A Note From Pastor Linda
Words from the Angel: "He isn't here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying... and then go and tell!" ~Matthew 28
I just gotta say WOW!! On Sunday I was blown away by your receptivity to the gospel- the GOOD NEWS of Jesus. If you were not here, the backstory:
At one point during the message, I encouraged the congregation (you all!) to say AMEN as a response... I expected that half the congregation might respond... but guess what: I received the unexpected with a resounding (and I mean resounding!) AMEN- followed by a WOW!
Of course, WOW was also the first word that many of you uttered as you entered the Great Hall that morning and witnessed the transformation of the CROSS... from an instrument of brutality, torture and death... to a garden of abundant LIFE. So many of you stopped after worship to take pictures. If you did- share them with us on Instagram or Facebook tagging Hosanna and using the #hosannafl #riseup #wow - or simply send them to me at
[email protected]
.
But I wonder... do we really understand what we just celebrated? Do we really understand what our AMEN-WOW really means? Sure, we're happy that Jesus isn't dead anymore, but is that it? Is that the meaning of the resurrection? Take a moment to answer this questions:
- What difference does the resurrection of Jesus make for my life today? Not after I die, but today?
Really... I want you to STOP and ponder that question.
On Sunday I shared this quote from NT Wright:
"Jesus' resurrection is the beginning of God's new project not to snatch people away from the earth to heaven but to colonize the earth with the life of heaven."
Jesus' resurrection promises that death is not the final chapter but a prelude to an even greater story. Are you ready to enter the story? Come and see- and then go and tell! Invite a friend to join you as together we explore the resurrected words of Jesus!!
Can I get an AMEN?!
