Project SEARCH Interns are Ready for a Fantastic Year!
The Project Search class of 2021-2022 started their first internship rotation in late September. Project SEARCH is a national, year- long, school to work program with the goal of competitive employment. Interns work in departments at Portsmouth Hospital that include Concierge, Housekeeping, Materials Management, the Cafeteria, Patient Transport and Human Resources. Project SEARCH Seacoast NH is a collaboration between Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Great Bay Community College, Community Partners, One Sky Community Services and NH Vocational Rehabilitation. Interns start each day with an hour of instruction in the classroom. Classroom curriculum includes professionalism, money management, self-advocacy, and development of resumes and portfolios. At their internships, Project SEARCH interns spend four hours each day building transferable skills that can be applied to future jobs. Supervisors and coworkers offer natural supports in the workplace and help students to grow and mature throughout the year. The goal of Project SEARCH is competitive employment after graduation.
Project SEARCH Interns are Sporting a New Look!
Our interns are wearing new Project SEARCH polo shirts this year thanks to a generous donation from Mark S. Sullivan, President of Seacoast Asset Management and Past Chair of the Project SEARCH Business Advisory Council. Interns met with Mark on a sunny day in October to thank him for his generosity. The Business Advisory Council is a group of local business leaders who meet regularly to support the program by mentoring interns and networking with local businesses to help to achieve the program goal of competitive, integrated employment for interns. The polo shirts not only look professional but also raise awareness about the program. Thanks Mark!
