This is the time of year to announce staffing shifts that we know about as we plan for the 2020-2021 school year.
Chico Country Day School is truly a community in every sense of the word. We lean into this work with students and engage at deep levels. As people's careers and needs shift, some of our staff members move away from CCDS, we welcome new folks, and plan for successful times ahead.
Our Dean of Students, Colly Fischer, will be moving up to Chester and has recently accepted the position as principal of their elementary school. Colly was instrumental in setting up our new leadership structure, supports our community with her whole heart, and will be missed tremendously by CCDS, but has also left many lasting changes to our campus that our students will experience for years to come.
We would like to welcome Claudia Trout to our leadership team in the role of Director of Student Affairs. It’s a pleasure to have her join our CCDS community; Claudia brings a deep drive toward equity and a focus on relationships first. Take a couple minutes to watch her introductory video included below!
We would also like to thank Nicole Quintero for her dedication to students and her passion for her craft. We wish her all the best as she moves to the Central Valley and are grateful for her time at CCDS.
An internal grade-level move to announce: Jenna Buhring will be teaching 5th grade and teaming up with Signe Miller. Jenna has been on our campus for two years now, first student teaching with Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Oliveri, then as our K-5 Elementary Specialist, and now joining Signe again in 5th grade. This is an incredible team and they look forward to collaborating and diving deep into the 5th grade curriculum together!
We will have a new TK program beginning in August. Teaching TK is Carlena Crandall, who was a student teacher with Mrs. Efseaff in the first semester this year. She is organized, innovative, joyful, and excited to begin this program and support our youngest learners!
On the middle school side of campus, we will be welcoming Kyle Norton as our 7th and 8th grade social science teacher. Kyle was an EMT for many years and found that his favorite part of that job was when he was able to teach and support new EMTs. He went back to school to get his credential and also worked as a behaviorist, supporting students with autism and their families. We are excited to welcome Kyle to the middle school team!
In our Special Education department, Haley Oliveri is back as the TK-5 Education Specialist. Haley enjoyed this year at home with her newborn son and is also excited to get back to working with our CCDS students!
Just like last year, students will “Fly Up” to their next classroom and meet their new teachers and classmates during the last week of school. This year, we will do this virtually, via zoom, on June 3. We will send out the schedule for this in the upcoming week so hopefully all students can attend!
