Member Spotlight
Bill Barth

Aurelio's Pizza Wrigleyville's Community Relations superstar, Bill Barth, has always had a strong love for pizza and Italian food. When he just was 18 years old he began working in his Father's pizzeria, back home in Minnesota.  Several years later, he moved to Chicago and continued his love for working in the food business at Spiaggia, one of Chicago's most famous, award-winning, and fine-dining Italian restaurants.

Fast forward 40+ years and he's a staple figure at Aurelio's Pizza Wrigleyville. In just a year since they opened, Bill has helped Aurelio's develop a large presence in the neighborhood, in part because of his own vibrant personality and love for local community. It was a no-brainer for him to be at another pizza establishment 40 years after he started at his father's.

Aurelio's has been a South Side staple since 1959.  Their location at 3801 N. Clark is the first Aurelio's franchise on the North Side.  "Since opening last May we have had so many patrons tell us how happy it has made them as they are now able to get the pizza they grew up on" Bill says.

Need a place to watch your Chicago Cubs and other favorite teams? They have 25 TV's so they are able to have multiple sporting functions on.
This year they are adding a sidewalk cafe plus a patio with fireplace; total  seating 100 people!  Perfect for large private functions.

Make sure to stop by soon for some great Chicago South Side pizza and meet the man himself!

GOVERNMENT & BUSINESS AFFAIRS
Restrictive Employee Scheduling Ordinance

The Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce attended the Workforce Development Committee in opposition to the restrictive scheduling ordinance.  Many business sectors were represented by hospitals, hotel and hospitality industry, IRMA, IRA and employees opposing the original proposed ordinance.  There has been a compromise with the Coalition and IL Restaurant Association that will exempt restaurants  with 250 employees AND 30 locations worldwide as well as  Franchisees (regardless of whether they are a restaurant) if they have less than 5 locations worldwide.  The Committee deferred the meeting until May 20 th for more discussion and possible amendments.  You can learn more about Work Your Way here.

The Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce testified at the License Committee this week to support an amendment to for an exemption for businesses located 100 feet of a place of worship or school to be able to obtain a liquor license without having to amend the State law and wait months for the Governor to sign the amendment.  This process is a determent to start-up businesses and will still need the approval from local churches and schools as part of the approval process.  The State will still regulate the liquor licensee and the only difference is the process is streamlined so it does not cause a financial burden on businesses.  The Chamber worked with State Rep. Sara Feigenholtz and Alderman Tom Tunney to make SB2436 a home rule. The proposed amendment passed in Committee and will be presented at the next City Council meeting.
