ANNOUNCEMENTS
TUESDAY, APRIL 23, 2019
  • ACT Aspire testing for 7th grade will be April 23-25. Please do not check out your student during testing. The testing day on Wed., April 24 will start with 7th period first thing in the morning. Students in athletics during 7th period should receive more information from their coaches. Also, we encourage students to either leave their phones at home during testing or shut them down and put them in their lockers. If a cell phone accidentally goes off in a testing room, the phone will be taken from the student. 
  • If your student is interested in going to FCA Up All Night on May 3, they need to bring $30 and a signed permission slip to Mr. Young. Students must pay and have the signed permission slip by April 26. Extra permission slips are in the front office.
  • We have less than 60 yearbooks left to order. Make sure you have ordered your copy if you want one on distribution day on May 10. You can order one at yearbookforever.com 
  • FHS Color Guard Auditions will begin Mon., April 22 at 4:30 p.m. in the FHS Band Room. Any current Woodland 8th grader is eligible to audition. No prior experience is necessary. For more information, visit www.fayettevilleguard.org, or email Mr. Antonetti at [email protected]. Tryout info is available on Google Classroom using course code 15zdcbv.
  • FHS Golf tryouts will be held April 23-26, 2019 at Fayetteville Country Club. Tryouts are open to any athlete entering grades 9-12. Sign up by using the link provided: FHS Golf Tryouts 2019. You must sign up and attend a mandatory tryout meeting that will held April 15 at 6 p.m. in the FHS Lecture Hall (Phase II). Contact Coach Scott Williams at [email protected] with any questions.
  • 2019 Cross Country Tryouts will be held Mon., April 29 at 5 p.m. at Agriculture Park Pavilion (corner of Gregg and Knapp Streets). All interested students need to turn in a physical before they are allowed to try-out. More information is on the Woodland Cross Country website, or students can talk to Coach Large or email him at [email protected].
  • FHS Softball tryouts will be held Fri., May 3, from 5-7 p.m. and Sat., May 4, from 9-11 a.m. at the Softball Complex. It is not necessary to attend both days. The softball coaches will be having a Q & A time during lunch on Tues., April 30 so students can meet the coaches and get any other pertinent info they may want to know. A current physical will need to be turned in at the tryout in order to participate.
  • Our annual Cowboy Celebration is fast approaching! It will be Fri., May 10, and we need all hands on deck. In order to pull off this huge day, PTO will need your help. Please email Kelly Edmiaston at [email protected] to see how you can help make the most memorable Cowboy Celebration to date!
No Parking at Neighboring Businesses

Parents and guardians, please do not park at neighboring businesses or drive through grassy areas or over curbs when dropping off or picking up students at Woodland.
Yearbook Wins Big at ASPA Convention
Congratulations to yearbook adviser Mr. Andrew Young and this outstanding group of young journalists! 

The Round-Up racked up the awards at the 2019 Arkansas Scholastic Press Association (ASPA) Convention! In all, they won 2 Honorable Mention, 13 Excellent, and 3 Superior. Hadley Humphry, Ellie Trainor, and Ava Osborne received Best of ASPA. Last year's book was awarded a Superior rating, too.

Jaycee Petrone was named 2nd runner-up in Photojournalist, Ellie Trainor was the winner of Photojournalist, and Hadley Humphry was the winner of Designer for the second year in a row.
Youth Citizens Police Academy Accepting Applications

The Youth Citizens Police Academy (YCPA) is a free program for 7th-12th grade students interested in law enforcement or in making our community a better place to live. 

There are two sessions, June 17-28 or July 15-26. Each academy will be eight hours a day, Monday-Friday, for two weeks. Topics covered include SWAT and firearms demo, K9 demo, crime scene analysis, ride along, CPR certification, and more. 

If your student is interested, have them stop by to see Corporal Warren here at Woodland and visit fayetteville-ar.gov/ycpa.
2019-20 Sports Tryout Info

Below is a link for the 2019 FPS sports tryout dates and requirements for next school year's 2019-20 teams. Please note that ALL students participating in a tryout will need a current physical.

Free Tutoring Options

We have several free tutoring options available. Students can participate in free tutoring sessions Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m., and transportation home is provided if needed.

We also offer tutoring sessions Mondays and Thursdays 7:30-8:15 a.m. and 3:30-4:30 p.m.
As always, drinks and snacks will be provided at every session.
