Nomination Period: From June 6 - July 3, you will determine who deserves to be a nominee for each category by nominating your favorites below. Once the nomination period is over, we will create the voting ballot directly based on your responses. The number of final nominees in each category will vary based on number of votes received in that category.
Voting Period: Voting will be open from July 31 - August 28, when you can vote for your favorite nominees in each category online at
independent.com/bestof2019. Each voter is required to vote in at least 20 categories for their votes to be counted.

Summer Solstice
Announcing the theme for the 2019 Solstice Parade:
WONDER!
Summer Solstice Parade began in 1974 as a birthday celebration for popular artist and mime Michael Gonzales. In subsequent years, the parade joined forces with a Summer Solstice Music Festival, sponsored by The Santa Barbara Museum of Art, staged at the Sunken Gardens to celebrate the longest day of year.
The Parade and Festival is the largest arts event in Santa Barbara County, drawing crowds of more than 100,000 spectators from around the world.
Dates: Friday through Sunday, June 21-23
Times: Friday, 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm (Festival Opening Night
)
Saturday, step off at Noon (45th Annual Solstice Parade)
Saturday, Noon to 8:00 pm (Solstice Festival)
Sunday, Noon to 6:00 pm (Solstice Festival)
Locations: Solstice Parade starts on State at Cota, to Alameda Park
Solstice Festival takes place at Alameda Park
Solstice Festival music performances includes appearances by Paradise Kings,
David Segall Band, La Boheme Professional Dance Company, Area 51,

Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Free Summer Cinema with FREE weekly film screenings under the stars featuring seven classic films from Hollywood's golden era.
Dates: Fridays, July 5th - August 23rd
Times: Movies begin at 8:30 pm, lawn set up at NOON on film day
More Info: Filmgoers are asked to respect the lawn and fellow attendees. Please bring blankets that are permeable (no plastic, nylon, tarps) and chairs that are low-backed and low to the ground.
