A PRAYER FOR SEPTEMBER: BLESSING OF THE AGAPE MURAL
BY KATIE HIGGINS, ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT OF MISSION
Creator God,
from whom all beauty flows, bless this mural
and all who look upon it.
May we claim the call of the mural as individuals
and as a Magnificat community.

Holy God,
who has gifted us with the examples of holy women and men down through history from every race, inspire us by the witness of St. Monica, St. Augustine, St. Benedict the African,
Servant of God Sr. Thea Bowman, Venerable Fr. Augustus Tolton, and all in the Communion of Saints.
Like them, may we embrace the call to holiness in our daily faith-filled living.

Loving God,
who teaches us that “love compels each of us to resist racism courageously,”*
draw us into your loving and compassionate heart.
With transformed hearts and minds, may we grow in love for You and our neighbor.

All-Embracing God,
who created each person with dignity and willed
the flourishing of the entire human family,
give us a spirit of courage, commitment, and hope.
May we work in solidarity with one another
to seek racial justice in all facets of society,
including education, criminal justice, healthcare, housing, and wealth.

We ask this in the spirit of Mary’s Magnificat . Amen.
