Glen-L will be closed on July 3rd to celebrate Independence Day
Many of you are outside the US and I hope you'll bear with me a moment to share my thoughts about my country.
I'm feeling particularly patriotic at this time because I realize what we have in this country and how easily it could be lost. I'm so grateful to be born and raised in America and to enjoy the freedom to go to church, to speak my mind, own my own business and to be part of this experiment we call the USA.
My great grandparents immigrated from Germany, my husband John's relatives immigrated from Russia. Today we will celebrate with our Russian family the life of Aunt Sena who lived a long, wonderful life for 95 years. This lady spent time in a work camp in Europe when she was younger. The folks we will be with today love America because they know what it's like to live under the thumb of communism.
I've never experienced that, but I appreciate and feel greatly blessed with what we have. I stand will all of my fellow Americans of every race, creed, color and culture who celebrate a country with the following ideals from our Declaration of Independence:
We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness...
And, I celebrate those who have given their lives in the pursuit of these ideals. May we continue to strive for unity and to make sure those freedoms continue. May God bless America!
