Principal's Message

Dear EAMS Students and Families,

The first day of school always has a tremendous amount of excitement surrounding it, and this year was no different. Although some of the procedures and precautions were new, the laughter, the joy, the reconnecting with friends--all of that was what we wanted and expected from the first week back.

I thank our students, staff, and parents for their continued flexibility and patience as we hone our new procedures at the beginning of the year. Everyone has embraced a growth mindset and worked towards a solution for any concerns that have come up.

On Mondays and Fridays during WIN time, students across the building engage in activities related to academic behaviors, social and emotional learning, mental health, and bullying prevention. Our students had their first academic behavior support lesson this week (we call it ABS for short). Students engaged in the “why” and “how” of using their binder and planner. I have attached the lesson for everyone to view here. Today, students had their first Olweus meeting of the year, which centered on recognizing one’s fears and discarding them. This lesson helps to create a positive and safe classroom environment and encourage students to tackle challenges.

New to the newsletter this week and going forward is the link to our EAMS Learning Maps. The learning maps are the go-to place for information regarding what is going on in class while a student is not physically present. These maps contain the links to live classes, resources used, and list anything that needs to be completed. All meet links for live-streaming require a student account to be used.

As items come up that you have questions or concerns about, please do not hesitate to contact me, and have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Ryan McBurney
Principal
