Recap of May's Chapter Meeting
The monthly Chapter meeting on May 20 was presented by webinar to over one hundred members, continuing our push to address the needs of our members during this unprecedented time. The highly requested webinar, Construction Project Management, was presented by Philip Mok, PMP, VMA, CF APMP, a principal of PMOK Consulting LLC. Philip discussed the history of construction, the role of the project manager, the types of projects and delivery methods, tools & techniques used, and the trends and future of the world’s largest industry.
The presentation included illustrations of how the wonders of the world such as the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, the Colosseum in Rome, the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal in India and the Parthenon in Greece are classic examples of construction projects. He described how traditional designs evolved to modern techniques such as modular and prefab construction and using robotics for more accurate surveys, measurements, and load calculations. He noted also that the construction industry is moving toward Agile, particularly in addressing today's social distancing concerns. It was an insightful presentation!
