AUSD's District Office to be Named After Nielsen Tam

At its June 11 public meeting, the Board of Education approved a resolution to name the District Office after Nielsen Tam, a former Board of Education member who died in 2015.

"Many of us knew and loved Niel, and Niel knew, loved, and mentored many of us in the Alameda community during his decades in AUSD," says Superintendent Sean McPhetridge. "I am thrilled to have this opportunity to honor his legacy."

Six Schools Make Non-Profit's Honor Roll

The Educational Results Partnership has named six AUSD schools to its "2018-2019 California Honor Roll." The designation recognizes schools that in 2017-18 demonstrated consistently high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in performance over time, and a reduction in achievement gaps on their campuses. We have details in our community bulletin.

Summer Meals, Health Services Available

AUSD is providing free summer meals to all youth as well as free mental and physical health services to teens throughout this summer. The meals will be provided at seven sites (see the flyer at the bottom of this newsletter for details).
