It's officially summer in many communities, and school doors are closing for a break. For the summer I will be taking a break as well, giving up the soap box to various Board Members and staff members to share their thoughts with you. I've put ALL the Summer Activities at the beginning of the update . Summer is all about FUN and we've lots of it planned. The Southwick Zoo event has sold out and is wait listed. The race is always to the swift so register early to avoid missing out.
In addition to the fun for the kids, teens and young adults, we also have three big FUNdraising Events that are fun for adults. First we have TEAM HARC running in the New Balance Falmoith Road Race on 18th. All our bibs have been taken but you can support the runners by making a donation to their pages, they are giving their all to support our community, a little donation from you would let them know that you appreciate their support! Scroll down for a Runner Profile of Katie Sulivan !
Our Golf Tournament and Wild About Wine events will take place in August as well, just about the time you could use an adult get away from the kid's summer vacation doldrums. Scroll down for details.
I want to thank all who took the time to
respond to our Family Satisfaction survey. You've given us a lot of food for thought. Because it was anonymous I can't answer every question raised, but I can address a few timely concerns.
One respondent felt that the YMCA memberships went to the same children, year after year and while there are some who have had memberships for more than 1 year, this is because like events, we give out the memberships on a first come first served basis, they are NOT automatically renewed. Each family has to call and apply.
We will begin taking applications for memberships for youth with ASD ( we do not do family memberships) in July as opposed to the fall this year. You"ll need to call to apply. Watch for more details !
Some people expressed happiness that we relocated to Worcester, while others felt uneasy about driving into Worcester. I get that, I always get lost coming out of the Worcester Public Library, but our new location is easily accessible from Route 290 , Route 190 and Route 9. We're not in the heart of the city and the traffic is pretty easily navigated. If you haven't been by to visit, please come by!
A few asked for more "local" activities. We do make a conscious effort to rotate activities each month so that we hit all 3 areas each quarter. This is sometimes difficult as our more rural towns do not always have as many opportunities for recreational venues as the larger cities do ! So if you kniw of a great resource for an activity in your town or city, let us know by emailing Cid and we'll check it out! We can always use your help !
Our Calendar Raffle continues and ypou can still enter . $10 for 16 chances to win is still a pretty good deal!
You can purchase your chance to win 16 times here. Good Luck!!
Have a great week and a great summer !
