Avoid hanging out with people you don't live with. It puts you at much higher risk of getting COVID-19.
If you're still going to hanging out, keep it to less than 10 people, stay 6 feet apart, wear a mask and wash your hands often.
Additional safety tips for hosting a get-together during COVID-19:
Stay home if you're sick.
- Stay home if you're sick or have had close contact with anyone who has COVID-19. If you live with someone who is at higher risk, think about the fact that you could bring COVID-19 home to your loved ones.
Social distance.
- Arrange tables and chairs 6 feet apart.
- Gather outdoors when possible. If you meet indoors make sure the space is well-ventilated (for example, open a window).
- Don’t shake hands, don't do fist bumps, and don't give hugs.
Wear a mask.
- Wear a mask when less than 6 feet apart from people or indoors.
Wash your hands often.
- Provide hand sanitizer.
- Clearly mark hand washing areas.
- Provide cleaning supplies that allow guests to wipe down surfaces before they leave.
- Remind guests to wash their hands before serving or eating food.
Limit the number of people handling food.
- Use paper towels so guests don't share a towel.
- Encourage guests to bring their own food and drinks.
- Limit the number of people in areas where food is being prepared, such as in the kitchen or around the grill.
- If serving food, use single servings, such as individual bags of chips instead of a shared bowl.
- Have one person serve shareable items, such as cake, so only one person touches the food.
Limit contact with shared items.
- Use touchless garbage cans or garbage cans with the lids removed. Wear gloves when removing garbage bags and wash hands after removing gloves.
- Clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces, such as counter tops, tables, and doorknobs.
- Clean and sanitize all shared items after the event.

How to Protect Yourself from COVID-19

- If you do not have soap and water, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. Cough or sneeze into an elbow if no tissue is available. Wash your hands.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household disinfectant cleaning spray or wipe.
