Opportunity for Good:
One way to link the Unitarian Universalist principles with social justice action is to participate in the humanitarian activities of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC). UUSC
describes its mission thusly: “UUSC advances human rights and social justice around the world, partnering with those who confront unjust power structures and mobilizing to challenge oppressive policies. Our work is grounded in the belief that all people have inherent power and dignity.” Their work encompasses multiple initiatives to enhance human rights and advance social justice.

Upcoming UUCC Sunday Service, February 21st
"With love at the center, there is always room," words from activist and author adrienne maree brown, who invites all of us to expand our imagination when it comes to creating a more just and equitable world. What does a world with love at the center look like? What can we nurture in community that moves us closer to the world our Unitarian Universalist faith tells us is not just possible, but our responsibility to co-create? Join us on Feb. 21st as Rev. Ranwa Hammamy returns with a worship-workshop entitled "Centering Love, Cultivating Liberation" where we will imagine a world centered on love, a world where there is always room. Rev. Ranwa is the Executive Director of the Unitarian Universalist Justice Ministry of California whose top 3 priorities are Immigration Justice, Medicare for All, and a Fossil-Free California.

Beautiful music will be provided by Tom Devine, Mo Robinson, and Pamela Carrington-Tribble.

Articulating our Unitarian Universalist Values
with a Multicultural Perspective
Many Unitarian Universalists struggle to describe Unitarian Universalism to others, even to fellow Unitarian Universalists. This series of workshops will help each of us to explore and express our religious values in an affirmative and hopefully deeper way. Topics include how vocabulary and cultural backgrounds affect our values; examining our UU Principles, history, multicultural engagement, and anti-racist work; and developing our personal expression of our religious values as an individual within our religious communities. This Adult RE Workshop is offered by UUSM and UUFRC on these four Thursdays from 5:30 to 7pm; February 25,
March 4, March 18, and March 25. Contact dre@uusanmateo.org or or learningjourney@uufrc.org for more information.
UUCC Shared Pulpit Workshop in 2021
We all have a story. Each of our stories becomes part of a larger narrative about being human. UUCC is seeking interested participants for a Shared Pulpit Workshop sometime in 2021. The six-week class will guide you in developing your story into a sermon, one that you will want to share with our lay-led congregation.

Many graduates report that Shared Pulpit transforms their relationship to Unitarian Universalism. Bill & Noreen Heavlin are two graduates of the 2018 Shared Pulpit workshop taught at UUSM. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact uucoastside@gmail.com.
Joys & Concerns:
One of the ways we weave community is by sharing aspects of our lives with each other, our joys and concerns. For our upcoming service, please email your Joys & Concerns to uucoastside@gmail.com.
Compassionate Caring Committee:
The UUCC Compassionate Caring Committee volunteers are often able to support our members during life events such as post-operative, illness, or can’t go out. Do you need food delivery or an errand run? Are you feeling loneliness, loss, or grief that a call might help?

Please contacuucoastside@gmail.com if you’d like support or if you want to volunteer.
UUCC Looking for Choir Singers!
Calling all singers for a new adventure, the start of our own UUCC Choir! Tom Devine is looking for singers to encircle UUCC sermons with harmony and melody. COVID has prevented us from singing together in person — but that hasn't stopped us from recording many beautiful UU hymns. It is easier than you think to sing along to a base piano recording using your smart phone. Bruce Rafnel and Tom will expertly guide you though all the steps. If you are interested in giving it a try or would like more information, please email Tom Devine.
