IRONMAN WEEKEND
It is the beginning of another Ironman 70.3 race weekend
in downtown Augusta.

It looks like we have a gorgeous weekend to be outside and demonstrate our legendary Saint Paul’s hospitality to thousands of athletes and spectators from all over the world. We hope you will join us in extending encouragement and support to our guests.

There is a place in this outreach effort for every age and ability.
See Below to Find Out How Can You Be Involved.

Thank you to all our SWIM GEAR DROP volunteers! This early morning crew will represent Saint Paul’s as official Ironman volunteers making us eligible for the Ironman Foundation Grant. This funding helps fund our hospitality and cheer station. Special thanks to our Swim Gear Drop captain, George Barrett.

Our own Father Eric Biddy will represent Saint Paul’s by praying at the Ironman’s opening ceremony at 6:30 a.m. This ceremony will take place at the swim start (Marina/5th Street Bridge area).

Our theme for Saint Paul’s Weekend is “Love Your Neighbor.” In normal times, that means throwing our doors open and extending a warm welcome to all. This year we are loving our neighbors by moving things outside to create a safer environment for all. It will look a little different, but we have a terrific day plan and look forward to making great memories together. We hope you will join us for worship and outreach. We can’t wait to see you on Sunday!

Yours in Christ,
Kim Butler
RACE MORNING HOSPITALITY
5 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Captains: Eric Friedman and Rose & Gene Helmich
This year we are moving our race day hospitality outside to the east parking lot (railroad track side). We will continue to provide complimentary refreshments, coffee, and an outdoor spot for athletes to gather before they begin their race and for their families and supporters to relax while their athletes are in the water and on the bike. In the early morning, we need volunteers to help with setting up and we need volunteers throughout the morning to help replenish coffee, water, and refreshments. The most important thing is to have people of all ages there to greet and welcome our guests. Please note, the athletes will be entering the water to begin their race shortly after 7 so the early morning (5:30 a.m. to 7 a.m.) is when we will see most of the athletes and the larger crowd. After that, our guests will primarily be spectators and family. Please join us for the entire morning or drop by and say “hello.”
CHEER STATION SET UP
10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Captains: Patsy Davis and Summer Bell
We need a team of volunteers to help move tents, tables, popsicles, balloons, and other cheering supplies to our cheer station at the front of the church. We will decorate the area with signs, balloons, and banners. Brad Sandbach will be delivering ice. We will also set up music for our runners to enjoy as they run by.

NOTES FROM THE VESTRY MEETING
At this month's regularly scheduled meeting on Monday night, the vestry prioritized prayer and relationship-building at the new rector's first meeting. At the same time, regular business and ministry continued. The vestry received reports from the ministries and committees of Saint Paul's, made plans for the annual stewardship campaign, and discussed potential delegates for the upcoming Diocesan Convention. We also formed a nomination committee for the vestry elections at the next parish annual meeting, incorporating retiring vestry members, continuing vestry members, and members at large of the parish.
