Dear Precinct 2 Community,

Many in our community continue to be significantly impacted by the severe winter weather rolling though North Texas. More snowfall is expected later this evening and many are still without power and some even without running water.

As a result of the damage to businesses, public works, utilities, and roads during the winter storm the County Judge has determined that extraordinary measures must be taken to alleviate the suffering of people and to protect or rehabilitate property has issued a Local Declaration of Disaster. This will allow the county to request much needed aid from the state and federal government.

We are still unsure how much longer the outages will continue. If you are in need to shelter please contact 2-1-1 or view the following list of Warming Stations available for Precinct 2 residents.

A huge thank you to all of the frontline and critical infrastructure workers keeping us going. Our own Precinct 2 road crew has been out, practically around the clock, to monitor road conditions and to work with our municipal partners to ensure the safest travel conditions possible. Still, if you don’t have to go out, please stay off the road.
Stay Safe,
Devan

Energy Conservation Tips
During this unprecedented winter weather we can each do a small part to reduce demand on the power grid.
  • Turn down thermostats to 68-degrees.
  • Close shades and blinds to reduce the amount of heat lost through windows.
  • Turn off and unplug non-essential lights and appliances.
  • Avoid using large appliances (i.e., ovens, washing machines, etc.).

Please remember: NEVER use an oven or a gas stove-top to heat your home. DO NOT bring outdoor barbecues indoors for heating. Hospitals across Tarrant County have seen a marked increase in cases of carbon monoxide poisoning.
