"O Lord our God, how majestic is your name in all the earth, you have set your glory above the heavens."

Psalm 8:1-2

Traveling to the Glory of God

Except for going to Egypt when he was a baby, Jesus never traveled more than 90 miles away from home in his life time. Over time, traveling greater and greater distances has become more possible with the advancements in the mobility industry. While many enjoy traveling, there are some who would say that except for work or perhaps visiting family members, traveling to unknown places just “to see”, is a luxury to be taken with care. Some might even say it is wasteful using money that could be better spent elsewhere.

Traveling can be a spiritual journey done to the glory of God, and I don’t mean only if we go and see churches and cathedrals in the places we visit! The very act of putting ourselves in different places of God’s creation can bring us closer to God and deepen our appreciation for everything he has created. Our God is indeed majestic, or as one song says it over and over again, “Our God is an awesome God!”

This awesome, majestic God has created people and places that honor him and bring glory to his name. When you and I are able to view such places and meet such people, we see more of our God. God is not confined to only where we live, or restricted to doing the things the way that we do them, or speaking only the language we use—His majesty and his glory are above the earth and above the heavens! Appreciating that majesty and glory in places and people close by, or across the world, broadens our faith while increasing our knowledge.

God's majesty and glory is in all of creation whether we see and experience it or not.  His name is the majestic name in all the earth! Exploring virtually or in person will indeed increase our faith.

Prayer:  Lord thank you for the vastness of your creation. Help us to care for what you have made and love the people who loved by you. Amen
