SHARE:
Week of July 12, 2020
As we seek to continue to keep connected as a church family even while apart from one another, below you will find several ways to participate in worship, prayer, and service with others from HBIC. We invite you to join us in any of these various ways this week!

There's also some important "announcement-type" information in this week's e-mail, so be sure to scroll the whole way through!

We continue to pray that you will experience the riches of the Lord's presence during this time that we are not able to be present with one another!
-- HBIC Pastoral Staff
ONLINE WORSHIP

Our pastoral staff are working together each week to record a worship service for our church family. The service will be available on the  HBIC YouTube Channel   on Sunday mornings by 9 am, as well as anytime thereafter.
WORSHIP-AT-HOME RESOURCES

The  Worship-At-Home Resource Page serves as a companion to the weekly worship video on the HBIC YouTube Channel and includes the song lyrics, the sermon scripture, plus some links for children. ...If you have more than one device and you'd like to see the lyrics to sing along, or have the sermon scripture handy to read along, you can have the video playing on one device while you follow along with the worship resource on the other!

May you experience the blessing of God
as you worship this week!
TREASURER UPDATE FOR JUNE

Thank you to the church family for your continued giving to the church's ministry, whether you've been mailing in checks, have signed up for regular giving through E-Tithe, or have used our online giving portal, easytithe... We are blessed by your regular giving!

Here's the update as of June 30:
  • Donations to the General Fund in June totaled $50,410, which is $9831 less than the budgeted monthly need.
  • At the end of June, total receipts for year-to-date were $330,936, which is $30,510 behind the budgeted need for the same time period.
  • Year-to-date receipts, while behind the budget, are also $27,301 ahead of year-to-date actual expenses.
  • In addition to giving to the General Fund, donations continued to come in for the Deacon Fund and the Food Pantry during June.

July 19 Worship Services

We have been able to reserve the pavilion at Lingle Park for  next Sunday, July 19, and we are planning to hold two Sunday worship services that day! We'll be sticking with our typical start times for each service -  9 am and 11 am. We look forward to this special time to gather in person with those who are able to attend from our church.

We will be gathering with the following safety protocols:
  • masks are to be worn for the entirety of the time gathered with the church
  • there will be attendance limits for each service
  • you will need to register in order to attend (to help with the size of each service and to help with contact tracing if that becomes needed at any point)
  • if children attend, they are to remain with their parent/guardian
  • place your seating at least 6 ft. from others
  • hand sanitizer will be available
  • no handshaking and hugging
  • if you know you have been exposed to Covid-19 or if you have any symptoms of illness, please do not attend

Below there are two buttons, one for the 9 am service and another for the 11 am service. Click on the button of the service you would like to attend, which will take you to the brief registration form. Please fill it out completely and hit submit. You should receive an email response letting you know that you are registered. (If you have any problem, feel free to contact Pastor Lynda by phone or  email.)

Please be sure to submit your registration no later than Friday, July 17, the sooner the better!

(NOTE: The address for Lingle Park is 1130 Pleasant Rd, Harrisburg 17111, not far off Union Deposit Rd.)
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (VBS)

Focus VBS  will begin July 19-23*, and all children are invited!

...This summer things will look a little different, since our VBS will be online, but we will have a great time as we take time to FOCUS on God and his amazing plan for us and our families.  We will learn four different ways we can FOCUS on God: HEAR, TALK, PRAY and LIVE.

Join us online, links for each day's video will be provided through an email, so  be sure to register  (by clicking this button) in order to receive the links.
Road Work on Greenwoood St.

We received word from Capitol Region Water that they will be doing work on replacing the water line on Greenwood St. from July 13 through the end of September. There will be lane closures which may affect the route taken to get to our church, for those who need to come to the building, so we wanted to let you know about the notice.
PASTORAL STAFF VACATIONS

Pastor Brie continues on vacation for part of this week (7/12 to 7/15), as does Pastor Carmen (7/12 & 7/13)

Continue to pray for this to be a special time of refreshment for them.

...Please feel free to contact any of the other pastors if you have a need.
PASSING ALONG INFO

Since we don't have use of a bulletin board right now, we're passing along info here that might be helpful...

1) The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) has a financial assistance application process for renters and homeowners affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Applications for CARES financial assistance for renters and homeowners are available; application submissions began July 6. For more information, see the full press release here.

In short, applications for both rent and mortgage assistance are accessible from PHFA’s homepage. Click in a red banner on the website to access the applications and other helpful background information. Or applications are also available from Christian Churches United (CCU) on their website.

2) Paxton Ministries currently has a number of job opportunities. Check them out by clicking here - there are descriptions of the various positions and an online application.
