April 1, 2019 - Volume 17 Issue 4
April is Volunteer Appreciation Month!  So, in this issue of "Another Month of Caring," we wish to highlight a few things our volunteers do around here!  Let's start with their impact!

Volunteer Impact:  Did you know, in 2018 The Caring Place volunteers gave 80,215 hours of their time for the mission of this organization?  The value of this time is $1,980,508! Our nearly 500 volunteers can be found in every aspect of this organization and we couldn't do all that we do, without them.  If these volunteers inspire you this month, please consider joining the team.  We always need volunteers in reception, pricing, merchandising, food pantry, the stores, donations, Programs & Services and more.  If you have a special skill, let us know!  Find some of our volunteer information and the online volunteer application here...

Join the Team!

We love celebrating our volunteers.  They serve the community through their work here at The Caring Place!  We can't help but brag on them because they are truly the heart of this organization.  Don't worry, there's room on the team for you, too!
Donations Reminder for Spring

These are just 2 of the volunteers you will regularly see out in our Donations area!

Do you wonder how we get so many magnificent things in our two thrift stores?  Well, it starts with you!  Our Donations drive through at 2000 Railroad Avenue is open Monday-Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  We gladly accept new and gently used items to help fund the mission to help neighbors in crisis.  Donating is a great way for you to declutter or make room for something new, while helping others.  Sometimes items go straight to someone who needs it, and other times they are sold to the public to support The Caring Place.  Because of your item donations, when donors make monetary gifts 100% of those donations directly impact neighbors in need!  It's a critical part of the way our organization works and we thank you for your help!  If you have larger items you can even schedule a pick up by calling 512-943-0711.  Please schedule pick ups at least 2 weeks in advance.  For more information on donating items and a list that helps you decide which items you should and should not donate go to our website here...

Deep in the Heart of Caring , is scheduled for Saturday, October 5th.  If you are an individual, business or organization looking to sponsor The Caring Place at an event,

April Brings Spring Jewelry & Decor

Did you know every cashier at The Shops at The Caring Place and Second Helping is a volunteer?

These are a few of our jewelry volunteers that will be getting our upcoming show ready.

Join us May 2nd at The Shops at The Caring Place for a Jewelry Show just in time for Mother's Day.  And, if you've never been to our Boutique, this is the time!  We recently expanded and look forward to offering you more space to shop brands like Vera Bradley, DKNY, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Coldwater Creek, Ralph Lauren, Chico's and more.  And, don't forget we also feature formal attire and accessories.  When you shop in our thrift stores, you are " Shopping for Good."  Every purchase supports The Caring Place mission to help neighbors in need.

What's new at Second Helping?  This shop is known for decor, art, collectibles and other unique finds and they are always rearranging.  Last month they opened a new room called "The Sweet Dreams Room."  Find a few pictures below of our Second Helping finds on Williams Drive.

And, on Tuesdays we feature 10% off your purchases as a thank you for your loyalty!

We have two thrift shops open to the public:

The Shops at The Caring Place

Our volunteers not only work throughout this organization, but they also bring wonderful ideas to life.  This month we feature this landscaping idea from Kathy Buchhorn.  When you frequent a thrift store, there's no telling what great ideas will come to fruition.

Our Food Pantry Needs in April

These are a few of the volunteers that work on Wednesdays in our Food Pantry!

For information on holding a food drive click here.  And, for information on giving a monetary donation to assist our neighbors, click here.

Note: Mark your calendars for the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive hosted by the National Association of Mail Carriers!  Leave canned goods in a sturdy bag by your mailbox or community mail box on Saturday, May 11th by 9 a.m.  Mail carriers will pick up your donations!  All donations made in Georgetown are donated to The Caring Place!

Where You Shop Matters...
When our shops don't have what you need, try our eBay store, or make your purchases using Amazon Smile, just select The Caring Place!
Occasionally, we find some treasures that sell better in an ebay store.  Shop there too and know your purchases still support The Caring Place!

Love shopping on Amazon?  Use Amazon Smile and, at no additional cost to you, donations are made to The Caring Place.  Just choose The Caring Place as your non-profit
choice.
