IMA COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update - #66

Today, the Governor noted that his administration will be releasing guidelines in the coming days for businesses and industry who will be able to reopen in phase 3 of the state's Restore Illinois Plan.  The IMA and a number of our member companies have been participating in discussions with members of the Governor's Office and the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity on best practices in manufacturing to help prepare these guidelines. The IMA has pushed the guidelines offered by the CDC and asked for flexibility for employers on how those guidelines are achieved operationally. Additionally, the IMA in partnership with FTI Consulting, previously released the IMA Safety and Reopening Guide.

Daily COVID-19 Results
 
Governor JB Pritzker held his daily press conference and announced:
 
  1. There are 1,545 new cases of coronavirus in Illinois.
  2. There are a total of 4,379 deaths related to coronavirus in Illinois, including 146 additional deaths announced today.
  3. A total of 98,030 cases have been confirmed in at least 100 of the 102 counties. These numbers include many individuals who have already recovered.
  4. There have been 621,684 individuals tested for coronavirus in Illinois.

  • Among the 10 most populous states in the U.S., Illinois has become #1 in the nation in testing per capita over the last seven days., COVID-19 testing sites can be found here.
  • The Governor stated that his administration will be releasing guidelines in the coming days for businesses and industry who will be able to reopen in phase 3 of the state's Restore Illinois Plan.

Regional Metrics Updates

Governor Pritzker's Restore Illinois plan uses health metrics and data to determine 5 phases of reopening the state. The Illinois Department of Public Health began publicly updating their data so that the four regions can see where they stand with regard to moving to the next phase on May 28. Currently, all four regions will qualify to move to Phase 3 . Click here to see the data in your zone .
