This Honolulu Rail Transit Project construction update video shows some of the construction progress along the alignment, including stations and the guideway, from Kualaka‘i (East Kapolei) Station to Kahauiki (Middle Street-Kalihi Transit Center) Station. The elevated guideway, situated above ground-level hazards, provides an added measure of safety by minimizing the risk of train collisions with passenger vehicles and pedestrians.

Each year during construction, the rail transit project is expected to support hundreds of jobs in construction, engineering, and professional services. In addition, thousands of other indirect jobs will help businesses create much-needed goods and services for the project.

The eastbound lanes of Nimitz Highway between Ke’ehi Lagoon Memorial Park and Kahauiki Village will be closed overnight between the hours of 9 pm and 4 am on the following dates:

Wednesday, October 27, 2021 | Thursday, October 28, 2021
Wednesday November 3, 2021 | Thursday, November 4, 2021

Motorists on eastbound Nimitz Highway will be detoured to onto Exit 18B towards eastbound Kamehameha Highway/Dillingham Boulevard. Pedestrian and vehicle access to Ke’ehi Lagoon Memorial Park and Kahauiki Village will be maintained.
