A Message from the Rector
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is my hope that you have all had the opportunity to read Nan’s difficult but beautiful announcement about her upcoming retirement. You can read that letter HERE. Though this news was not exactly welcome, it is cause for joy and celebration for Nan and her family as she moves into this very well-deserved retirement.
There will be plenty of time for us to grieve and celebrate with Nan, and to give thanks for the many ways in which she has blessed us all. For now, let us not eulogize Nan while we still have her with us! We still have over two months of ministry with this extraordinary priest, so let us all enjoy our remaining time together, as we continue in our ministry on Christ’s behalf. Stay tuned for more information on plans to celebrate Nan’s time with us, and to provide her with a proper sendoff when the time arrives. As Nan and Trinity move into this time of transition, let us give thanks to God for all the good work Nan has done here, and all the good work that remains in these months ahead.
Blessings,
Dave.

Stewardship Prayer
Generous and loving God, so draw our hearts to you, so guide our minds, so fill our imaginations, so control our wills, that we may be yours, utterly dedicated to your service.
Use us and all of our resources - each minute of our day, each of our humble gifts and talents, and even our finances, as you will, and always for your glory and for the welfare of your people, in and through and with the power of your Spirit. Amen

Overview of Hebrews
The lectionary has had us spend several weeks reading from the book of Hebrews in the New Testament in our Sunday readings. Here is a good overview of the book from the Bible Project which illustrates its instructions.

A Vestry Prayer
Each month on the 3rd Monday, your vestry, wardens, treasurer, and clergy meet to discuss the life of Trinity parish and attend to any business matters. Vestry members take turns providing the worship or meditation which begins our meeting. Last week, there was an excellent meditation and discussion about the divisiveness in our nation and the challenge for the church to respond. This prayer was compiled from different sources, and we found it so meaningful that we wanted to share it with you all.
0 Lord our Governor, bless the leaders of our land, that we may be a people at peace among ourselves and a blessing to other nations of the earth.
Lord, keep this nation under your care. From The Book of Common Prayer
To the President and members of Cabinet, to Governors of States, Mayors of Cities, and to all in administrative authority, grant wisdom and grace in the exercise of their duties.
Give grace to your servants, 0 Lord
From The Book of Common Prayer
Lord, thank you for allowing us to live in this country,
for allowing us to live in a place that lets
... us believe in you
that lets us pray to you
that lets us speak our beliefs
We thank you for your Grace.
As a nation, we are hurting.
We've been through so much together
And we are all processing it in different
...ways.
Open our hearts to be kind to one another, as we learn and grow.
When division disturbs our peace of mind,
Let us remember that our trust is in you.
When our judgements shroud our ability to see the good in each other
Help us connect at the heart of our common humanity.
When the darkness of hatred and prejudice hides within us,
Bring it to light, and help us see each other clearly as Your beloved children.
Awaken a Holy passion and conviction in us of what is right,
And help us rise as a stronger, more empathetic people.
Give us the courage to be accountable for our actions and attitudes which harm others,
And give us the strength to forgive those who have wounded us.
Oh Lord, let us be the light that leads the world to you,
And grant us the patience to work together with understanding and compassion in our hearts.
Provide us with wisdom and vision for the future,
And illuminate our minds with Your Truth
Heavenly Father, we often act like we alone know what is best for our country.
Thy Will Be Done, Amen.

All Saints’ Sunday
On Sunday, November 7th, we will celebrate the Feast of All Saints. All Saints’, as many of you know, is the only moveable principal feast day of the church year; if it is not celebrated on the actual day, it can be moved to the following Sunday.
As is our custom, we will begin our worship with the Litany for all the Saints, and we will include in this litany the names of any of our loved ones who have recently died. We were unable to do this litany in 2020, so if you wish for the names of any of your loved ones who have died in the past 2 years to be read during this litany, please submit those names to Georgia at admin@trinitymarblefalls.org. We look forward to celebrating with you that Great Cloud of Witnesses into which so many of our loved ones have entered.

Let Go
I love the season of fall – when all things seem to be dying. We who follow Jesus know that the bare trees, are just waiting silently and expectantly for the mystery of spring and the glorious bursting forth of new life. And so with us. Jesus calls us every day to live into that mystery; to let die all that does not give us life. Let it go. by Br. Geoffrey Tristram, SSJE

Meditation on Psalm 34:5
Look upon him and be radiant, and let not your faces be ashamed.
In ancient times, people thought that a human being would die from looking directly upon God -- the contrast between God's goodness and our sinfulness would surely kill us. So this invitation, to look upon God and be radiant, is not so much about seeing God in a physical way as it is about the healing of human shame.
There may be a deed in your past you regret. You may have done a great deal of atoning for it, and you may have gone on to build a good life that visibly upholds values the world rightfully respects and admires. But still -- here is this thing in your past. Except for this one thing, your soul keeps saying, piteously, over and over again, lugging the thing around with her everywhere she goes. I am good, except for this one thing.
The soul is dumb that way. She doesn't have to tote your sins around, day in and day out, but she does. She doesn't have to keep bringing them up whenever you thing you're doing pretty well. She can confess them, and then she won't have to carry them anymore. But for some reason she is afraid to do that, so she holds on to them, sometimes for decades.
When you finally get around to confessing your soul's burden to someone else in the presence of God -- who, of course, already knows about it -- it is amazing how easy and freeing a thing it is. Finally you can put it down. Finally your soul has her hands free. And the person whom you chose to hear your confession, whom you were afraid would have no respect for you after hearing what you had to say -- you were wrong about that. The confessor is never more aware of her own moral failures than when experiencing the courage of another person getting honest about his. All of us live in glass houses.
