Open House

Tue. April 9, The Mortenson Center, The Sustainability Innovation Lab at Colorado (SILC), Impact Initiative, Future Earth, and Global Sustainability Scholars hosted an open house in the newly renovated office space (pictured below) in the Sustainability, Energy and Environment Community (SEEC) building.  Guests were invited to learn more about each organization, including their portfolio of research and activities. The Mortenson Center also gave tours of the new lab space.  (pictured above)

New Book From Bernard Amadei

Volumes 1 and 2 of Professor Bernard Amadei's new book titled A Systems Approach to Modeling the Water-Energy-Land-Food Nexus has been published by Momentum Press. 

Over the next 50 years, rapid population, urbanization and economic growth worldwide will create unprecedented needs for water, energy, land and food (WELF) resources.  This two-volume book describes a flexible and adaptive system-based methodology and associated guidelines for the management and allocation of community-based WELF resources.  Read more and buy the book.
Nominations for Student Representative Are Open

This position has the potential to be a paid Earn-Learn Apprenticeship for a student who meets the criteria. Emily Moore, current student representative said, " As the student representative you will have the opportunity to be a voice for your fellow students as you further the development of the Mortenson Center working with faculty, staff, and  students. You also will be filling up the student group social calendar full of fun and professional events to benefit the Mortenson Center students." The second annual Sustainability and Development Conference at the University of Michigan will cover a suite of key themes related to sustainability and development, but broadly focuses on the many global efforts to realize and assess outcomes of the sustainability and development ambitions, including the SDGs.
