Fellow Servants of Jesus Christ, Jim casual 8-2014

"There is nothing more that the doctors can do." "It is only a matter of time." "You better call the family in."

What gives us hope when we are confronted with the such heartbreaking news? What gives us peace when we experience such terrible loss?

The answer is found in what Holy Week is all about: The good news of Jesus' death and resurrection! Death experienced a resounding defeat through Jesus' taking our sins upon himself on the Cross and God raising him up from the dead. As sinful human beings, we can stand before our Holy God in our sins because Jesus bore our guilt. By faith, we claim his righteousness as our own!

Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the grave has lost power; the grave has lost its terror; and the grave has lost its despair. Those who trust in Jesus know that their destiny is the same as Jesus' destiny. Just as Jesus was raised from the dead, so will those who trust in him be raised with Jesus. As the Apostle Paul wrote: "By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also." (1 Corinthians 6:14). What great news!

This is the glorious hope that we celebrate this week. Please be sure to join us during our special services - Maundy Thursday Seder Dinner (for those who have registered), Good Friday and Easter morning - as we remember and celebrate what God has done for us through his Son Jesus.

In His love,
Pastor Jim
