Diversity in the community and in our workplaces is a reality, and employers recognize the need to ensure that all employees have a common expectation for respectful workplace behaviours. All employees and supervisors contribute to respectful workplaces by taking responsibility for their own actions and their effect on others. This two-part workshop covers essential skills in recognizing behaviours that constitute workplace harassment. Participants will also be provided with the tools and knowledge to begin designing relevant policies and complaint resolution processes.
NO RATINGS PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT: LESSONS FOR SUCCESS
Charity Village
May 16, 1 p.m. (Eastern)
Free

Focused on leveraging performance through frequent meaningful discussion, no rating performance processes have a unique opportunity to succeed in the nonprofit world, where performance is commonly driven by a shared sense of purpose and focus on development, over monetary rewards.

But, even though managers and employees seem to agree that old school performance management doesn't work, the journey to transform is easier said than done. How does an organization actually go about making the switch? This webinar will share case study examples, insights and lessons learned to determine if a no ratings process is right for your organization, and how to successfully shift to this new approach if it's right for you.
FACILITATOR TRAINING WITH GERIACTORS
GeriActors
June 1, 8, 15, and 16, 12:30 - 4:30 p.m.
$155 per person

Learn GeriActors' playful theatre and storytelling approach in Facilitator Training. Design and deliver workshops that inspire playfulness, foster community, stimulate storytelling, and develop plays that can be shared with others. Perfect for actors, educators, healthcare providers, and recreation professionals with an interest in community-based theatre. Training will have a particular reference to seniors, but the approach can be adapted for work with any community.

At the end of the program, participants will have the opportunity to facilitate their own workshop, for which they will be paid, and put into practice what they have learned.

GeriActors strives to ensure programs are accessible to all, and they have a limited number of bursaries available to assist with program fees. To be considered for a bursary, submit a letter (max 250 words) indicating your interest and experience in theatre, community arts, or senior's recreation, and how facilitator training will benefit you and/or your community. Letters can be emailed to geriactors.friends@gmail.com by May 15. Bursaries have been made possible through the support of the University of Alberta Drama Department. Preference will be given to University of Alberta students and alumni, but bursaries are available to anyone who has demonstrated an interest and ability.

Register through Eventbrite. Contact Becca Barrington at 780-248-1556 or geriactors.friends@gmail.com for more information.
