Irvine Intermediate was awarded a FUSE Grant for the 21-22 School Year. FUSE is a student-centered, choice-driven STEAM lab program sponsored by Northwestern University in Chicago, Il. The grant program awarded Irvine Intermediate students with over $20,000 in equipment and software. FUSE learning activities are designed to introduce STEAM concepts and skills through ‘making.’ “Making” is when students are presented with a problem to solve and they need to determine the best way to solve it and “make” that solution. Challenges use tools like 3D design and printing, robotics, architecture, music mixing, animation and more. FUSE encourages students to be creative, ask questions, think critically, and solve problems.
