Witnesses...
We all love a good courtroom drama. The charismatic lawyer calling the witness and grilling them about what they had seen and heard. Being a witness for Jesus has some strange implications for us and how we live in this world. Jesus calls us to be disciples who make disciples but He calls us to do this by being witnesses to the work He is doing in us. What are you a witness to? What have you seen and heard? What “good news” do you have to share?

Congregational Meeting
Sunday, October 31 after Church
Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 31 after church for our Congregational Meeting! This meeting will include updates about the church and from Nominating Committee about new Elders & Deacons.

Monthly Session Update
Session met on the 12th and would like to report the following:
At the start of our meetings Pastor CJ and the Session members all take time to share our “God Encounters” from the past month. God is moving in our midst! Session also takes time to discuss some questions on Mature Discipleship, this month having a brief discussion on how we have been directly influenced by our time in the Word this month. Session members believe deeply that building our own relationships with God and our individual maturity as His disciples is the most important part of seeking His direction for the Adventure family.
Pastor CJ shared with Session all the exciting things happening within the sphere of staff, including changing over some of our communication systems, finishing more classrooms, plans for conference attendance, and what some of the concerns that are being shared with the staff. We are seeking ways to maintain our connection with valuable members of our church who still remain at home due to Covid precautions.
Our church is in excellent shape fiscally. Right now we are ahead over $9,000 in our operating expenses and have a healthy cash reserve of over $77,000. This reflects generous and faithful giving, careful stewardship, and a committed group of volunteers who help keep expense down. Praise be to God!
The Nominating Committee is working diligently to discern God’s will for our coming year and who will be called to serve as deacons and elders. Although this process is often ongoing, they will be presenting candidates for a vote at our Congregational Meeting on October 31st after Sunday service. There will also be candy.
Pastor CJ, Staff, and Session have worked together to review how Pastor CJ’s first six months as Senior Pastor have gone. No areas of concern have been raised. Since this was his first annual review, there will still be some adjustments made to the process for next year, but the overall impression is that Staff and Session feel very blessed in his service to us all.
Have you noticed our walking path is a little longer now? Elder Don VanDoornik has been expanding the path on the eastern part of the campus. While the weather is certainly getting cooler, we hope that you will take advantage of this path throughout the fall!
Adventure Equip (Sunday 9-9:45) is really taking off and one of the classes is being led by Elders Michelle Stigler and Tish Holmes, it is called Covenant Partnership. In the past we have had a New Member class and a Confirmation Class, but both of these are being shifted into the new curriculum of the Covenant Partner class because there is a need for all of us, even those who may be long time members, to learn more about what it means to be part of the Adventure family. As Elder and lead teacher Michelle Stigler reminds us, “membership” is what we have at Costco, our relationship within our church family is much deeper and more meaningful. You can join the class, and any of the Adventure Equip classes, at any point and the Covenant Partner class will be offered again next session as well.
Full minutes for our meetings are available through the office and Session welcomes your input. Have a blessed October!

Church Updates & Finances:
In a continued effort to be transparent we wanted to remind you of how our church finances work with some of the improvements you’ve been seeing around the building. If you’ve been in some of the Adventure:Equip classes or peeked in the Main Office from the Welcome Center we are sure you’ve noticed updates to the office and classroom spaces, making them more functional and inviting to how they are used. The majority of the funds for these projects have not come out of our regular church budget, but are from specifically earmarked designated funds that can only be used for these types of updates.
We also wanted to make you aware of an upcoming change to the Worship Center. Our projector systems and screens on the sides of the stage will soon be replaced with large TVs. The projectors, especially the one on the left, have been having some issues and we have to replace costly bulbs in both of them frequently. Given some of these considerations, while smaller in size than the projector screens, the clarity and brightness of these TVs will more adequately provide for their use in our light-filled worship center. With Session approval, staff worked collaboratively together to volunteer not spending some budget money to offset the cost of this purchase.
If you have any questions about any of these changes, our church finances, how we plan for these updates, or how this aligns with our mission, vision and values here at Adventure we welcome the conversation, please ask! You can email the mainoffice@faithadventure.com or talk to Sam, Candice or Leslie.

This section is a weekly reminder that God is Good!
He is good to us every single day & we will praise His name!
|
|
Sing to the Lord, all the earth!
Tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples!
For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
and he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and joy are in his place.
Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
bring an offering and come before him!
Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;
tremble before him, all the earth;
yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.
Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice,
and let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns!”
Let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
let the field exult, and everything in it!
Then shall the trees of the forest sing for joy
before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth.
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever!

If you have stories of God's goodness, hit reply to this email and send them our way. We would love to hear them and talk to you about sharing them.
To spur your thoughts to God's goodness start by asking yourself these questions:
What Good have you witnessed recently?
What Good has God brought into your life?
What Good has God prompted you to do for one another?
