Support Ballard Performing Arts! “Screens to Stage” Giving Campaign Begins
|
|
October 28 kicks off our fall concert series--and our major fall fundraiser! From Screens to Stage celebrates the return of students playing in person again and kicks off one of our bigger fundraisers.
We are excited to get back to seeing our students playing together after so long. But after nearly two years away from the stage, all of our groups need rebuilding and revitalizing. The directors are stepping up efforts to bring in clinicians and specialists to work closely with the student groups to get back into award-winning form.
We are also moving in directions to reach new and broader audiences, and that requires additional A/V skills and technology.
And finally, part of our mission as a booster club is to provide a high-quality experience for all of our students and families, regardless of their financial situation, by offering scholarships to students who may need financial support or assistance.
We can’t do all this without help from our families.
In the coming weeks, as the campaign rolls out, you will meet a few of our 300+ students and discover why supporting the Ballard Performing Arts is so vitally important.
Follow our social media accounts for daily updates, shoutouts, and behind-the-scenes content
Note:
We typically hold a gala auction and dinner this time of year, but we are planning smarter, less expensive and more inclusive fundraisers that all families can participate in. This direct giving campaign and the wrap party replaces our auction.
Program and class fees paid earlier this year cover minimal basic music education requirements. Our annual operating Boosters budget, half of which goes to specialists, additional instruction, clinicians and other teaching support, has made Ballard Performing Arts the award-winning arts education program it is.

All choirs were thrilled to welcome the clinicians last week!
On October 20th, all choirs were able to work with Phyllis Byrdwell for an interactive presentation on Gospel music. Phyllis is the director of the University of Washington Gospel Choir, as well as the Minister of Music at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in the Central District.
On October 22, Concert Choir held a Zoom workshop with composer Reginald Unterseher and lyricist Afrose Fatima Ahmed. Unterseher and Ahmed are the composer and lyricist for the piece “This Morning”, a new composition that Concert Choir will perform at our fall concert this week. Both Unterseher and Ahmed are residents of the Tri-Cities, and were excited to hear Concert Choir sing the piece and engage in a dialogue about the compositional and artistic process.
