COVID-19 has made a resurgence not only in South Florida but Statewide. Tampa, Orlando, and the Treasure Coast are experiencing an increasing number of COVID-19 cases. Although the test positivity rate fluctuates almost daily, a steady decrease in the positive rate is required to slow and defeat the spread of the COVID-19 virus. A 10 % positivity rate is the threshold for concern according to the Department of Health. Palm Beach County was at 8.8% positivity rate and was trending downward. Unfortunately, that trend has reversed, and we are at an astounding 18.2%. and have over 11,180 cases within Palm Beach County ( There are no active cases in Town or on Singer Island at this time ). As a result, Palm Beach County enacted Emergency Order 12 (EO-12) which requires the wearing of facial coverings. The information b elow provides a summary of EO-12:

Facial Coverings are required to be worn in the following scenarios:

  • Establishments and Businesses
  • While obtaining goods or services
  • Working in or visiting the establishment or business
  • Entering, exiting, or otherwise moving around within the establishment or business
  • Restaurants: Entering, exiting, or anytime when you are away from your assigned table, such as visiting the restroom.
  • Public Places
  • Any place where social distancing in accordance with CDC guidelines is not possible or being practiced.
  • Public Transportation
  • Palm Tran and Vehicles for Hire (Uber, Lyft, Taxis)
  • County and Municipal government buildings
  • Anyone accessing a government building or facility to conduct business, making deliveries, visitation, contracting or conducting maintenance

The full Emergency Order, that also outlines exemptions and enforcement criteria, and PBC Business Posting Exhibits are on the Town’s website. As always, please feel free to call or email me with your questions.
