X-Ray Recertification Required Every 36 Months

In the fall 2019 edition of the Journal IDA , the x-ray machine recertification question on page 17 states that x-ray machines must be recertified every 24 months.

Although this is correct for certain types of medical offices, dental x-ray machines are required to be evaluated every 36 months . We apologize for any confusion.
12 Days Left for Renewal

Tuesday, December 31 is the deadline for 2020 membership renewals. Renew today and enjoy the benefits of IDA membership. Visit our website for more information.

Rep. Todd Huston of Fishers Named Indiana House Speaker-Elect

Rep. Todd Huston (R-Fishers) will assume the role of Speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives when current Speaker Brian Bosma retires at the end of the 2020 General Assembly.

IDA is seeking a Contact Dentist to serve as the key contact for Rep. Huston. If you are acquainted with Rep. Huston and are willing to serve in this role, email IDA Director of Government Affairs Ed Popcheff.

Rep. Huston also is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, which crafts Indiana's $34 billion biennial budget. This makes having a Contact Dentist for him all the more important.
Jay Dziwlik Receives ISAE Award

IDA Assistant Executive Director Jay T. Dziwlik was named Association Professional of the Year by the Indiana Society of Association Executives.

Jay was recognized for helping IDA achieve record membership during a time when many associations are seeking membership declines. He was also the staff lead for the Indiana Mission of Mercy program, which provided charitable dental care to over 1,000 patients in May 2019.

In addition to his work with the IDA, Jay has been an active member of ISAE, serving on its Board of Directors and a speaker at its annual convention.
Medicaid Updates
Proper Documentation Key to Avoiding Medicaid Audits

Documentation of procedures performed in patient records is accepted as standard of care. Third party payers are now performing audits and requesting reimbursement for codes for which no documentation supporting the submitted code is in the patient charts.

The agreements signed when entering these networks require a high of documentation. Please click the link below to view the ADA's guidance on proper documentation for all patients.
