Wayne YMCA
NJHCN Funder: New Jersey Department of Health
When COVID-19 began causing financial and and food instability, the Wayne YMCA jumped into action. Under the umbrella of Wayne United, the Y worked with partners to coordinate a weekly food distribution for 200 families in the community, as well as an ongoing community-wide food drive. Partners included The Community Food Bank of New Jersey, Wayne Public Schools, Wayne Department of Senior and Social Services and Wayne Interfaith Network Food Pantry. “As the pandemic rages on, we are creating a sustainable, community-wide approach to meeting the needs of those experiencing ongoing food insecurity.”

Overlook Family Medicine - Family Promise of Union County
NJHCN Funder: Atlantic Health System
To promote healthy eating, Family Promise of Union County’s Healthy Pantries initiative is assisting families by providing the kitchen gear, gadgets and staple foods to promote healthy cooking and eating, at home. With the assistance of Kelly Donovan, recent Masters graduate with a degree in Science of Foods and Nutrition, families are able to pick which items would make up their ideal “Healthy Pantry” and have them personally delivered to their door! “Having the necessary kitchen gadgets and pantry items are so crucial when making healthy meals for your own family. It provides the foundation for a nutritionally healthy household.”

Sustainable Communities Grant Program

Atlantic City Electric (ACE) and Sustainable Jersey are pleased to announce the Sustainable Communities Grant Program. ACE values the environment and is always working toward delivering a cleaner and brighter future for communities. That is why it is contributing $75,000 to support municipal environmental stewardship and resiliency projects in its service territory. Grants to support environmental stewardship and resiliency will be awarded.
