Local Action Update:
More Ohio Communities Propose Resolutions to join Power a Clean Future Ohio
COMING SOON, Upper Arlington City Council is planning to vote during their next meeting to adopt a resolution to join Power a Clean Future Ohio and further the city’s leadership in pursuing sustainable initiatives for the city. If passed, PCFO will work with local leaders as the city develops a plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the City of Upper Arlington and expand their investment in the clean energy economy. The city considered the resolution during Monday’s council meeting and discussed the community’s considerable accomplishments in this area and the number of opportunities presented by a partnership with PCFO and our other member communities.

NEXT WEEK, Montgomery County Commissioners will also consider a resolution to join Power a Clean Future Ohio. Commissioner Rice is leading the effort to embrace the opportunity and resources that PCFO presents to the county. PCFO hopes to work in partnership with the commission to further the County’s five-year sustainability plan, which is also on the agenda for next week’s meeting.

Global Problem, Local Solution: Ohio’s Cities Leading on Climate Action
During yesterday’s City Club of Cleveland forum, Cincinnati Mayor Cranley, Warren Mayor Franklin and Franklin County Commissioner Crawley discussed how they are working in their communities to fight climate change.

The speakers raised a number of critical issues that are interwoven into climate action and clean energy, including public health, economic justice, racial justice, land and water conservation, housing, education and job training, among many others. Each of the communities represented is looking to new opportunities to grow the clean energy economy and reduce emissions through Power a Clean Future Ohio’s partnerships and resources.

Mayor Doug Franklin of Warren said, "I fundamentally believe we can take care of our environment and be responsible from a public health standpoint and also save money and create jobs at the same time. That is our focus."

Watch a recording of their discussion here.
Ohio is growing clean energy jobs
Did you know, according to Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy's recent article, “More than twice as many Ohioans work in clean energy than the number of lawyers, accountants, auditors, web developers and real estate agents combined."

The clean energy industry has created over 100,000 jobs in Ohio, and while obstacles such as the pandemic and policies had a negative impact on all jobs across the U.S., the Ohio clean energy workforce is quickly bouncing back, faster than any other industry.

What's even more impressive is this positive statistic actually starts on a local level. Power A Clean Future Ohio works with local leaders to equip them with the tools to implement clean energy policies in their communities, but partners and advocates like Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy help the small businesses in those communities reap the benefits from the cost-saving, economic-growing clean energy programs that provide these growing jobs.

Clean Fuels Ohio's Transportation Solutions Vehicle Expo
Clean Fuels Ohio successfully wrapped up their Transportation Solutions Vehicle Expo at Columbus State Community College last Friday, October 15. This event brought together solutions providers and implementers from around the state for a day of networking, education, and hands-on experience with some of the industry’s technologies.

A wide range of vehicle technologies, fuels, and types were displayed at the expo. Attendees explored vehicles from companies like IngevityBus Service Inc. ICOM N. America, and Lordstown Motors. Local fleets brought several vehicles to demonstrate examples of real-world deployments as well.

In addition to the outdoor vehicle expo, Listen & Learn sessions hosted throughout the day gave overviews of Clean Fuels Ohio’s consulting services program and policy initiatives.

The team is excited about the success of their event and is looking forward to beginning planning to bring back the Midwest Green Transportation Forum & Expo in 2022 for their 20th anniversary.
