Thanks to Tomorrow’s Promise, the Montessori School of Huntsville for sponsoring the September Chamber Small Business Breakfast. Director and Founder, Kaye Boehning shared, “I have a master’s degree in education and I am a certified Montessori teacher. Montessori is the only educational method founded by a doctor using the scientific method for what’s best for the child. We teach children using a hands-on individualized curriculum that expects mastery before a student moves on to the next level. I’m sure you’ve heard of Google, Wikipedia and Amazon. Their founders were all Montessori students. We teach children how to think, not what to think. Whether you have a child or not, you need to come by and see why we are different from traditional schools. Come see why I have dedicated my like to making a difference in people’s lives where it matters. The first five years last a lifetime.”
For more information you can find them on the web at www.tomorrowspromise.info. Stop by their location at 2817 Old Houston Road or give them a call at 936-435-0303.

UPDATE FROM THE POP COMMITTEE

POP Highlights

The POP committee met on September 8, 2021. HISD Superintendent, Dr. Scott Sheppard, provided an update on the plans for school renovations and the expansion of the athletic fields made possible with funds from the recent bond election. He also reported that HISD is managing fairly well given the Covid situation. HISD is following TEA and state guidelines regarding protections for students and faculty. The Hornet Success Academy is functioning well and providing opportunity for students to complete their high school requirements and receive a diploma.
The next meeting will be held on October 13th at 2pm in the conference room of the Chamber featuring Sally Dowis and Juanita Hall who will outline needs of our HISD children. Everyone is invited to attend.
