Hello Class of 2024,
As you may know, President Fitts recently announced details for
Fall 2020 Reopening. The first day of class has been moved up to Wednesday, August 19, 2020. This change affects the New Student Orientation schedule, and we are currently working with our campus partners to re-design our Orientation to adjust our calendar and ensure our programs adhere to public health guidance.
Exact dates and details for New Student Orientation will be shared once they become available. Please continue to monitor your Tulane email for updates.
We can't wait to design a new model of Orientation that helps you transition to Tulane, get connected to people in our community, and introduce you to some of Tulane's greatest traditions - all while keeping you safe. We know this is an uncertain and scary time, and NSLP is here to support you through it all. We will guide you through this journey and help you find the things you need to succeed and thrive.

Housing Updates
- Students who have successfully completed their Housing Agreement will be able to request a roommate between June 4 and June 15 in the Housing Portal. More information regarding roommate preferences will be sent to your Tulane e-mail address.
- Housing & Residence Life staff is continuing to plan for opening the residence halls. We will share updates with students and families as they become available, so students should continue to check their Tulane.edu e-mail address for information throughout the summer.
- Information regarding room dimensions, and furniture types in rooms will be added to the Communities pages on our website in June to help students plan for their arrival in August.

The Yellow House

During the series, students are encouraged to read the novel during the summer to prepare them for
discussion groups led by experienced faculty members as a part of New Student Orientation. This is an opportunity for new students to engage with a full-time faculty member with a particular expertise related to the book selection prior to their first college class.

Check it off the List | CAST Virtual Sessions
Make sure you're on track for a successful first semester! We have organized all the tasks, dates, and deadlines into one comprehensive checklist. A few items will be available later in the summer, so make sure to check back in June and July for updates. Most items are encouraged, while some are required.
The first CAST Session begins TODAY and continues through June 19th! Cultivating Academic Success at Tulane (CAST) is the first step of New Student Orientation and prepares students for academic success and to start making an impact on campus.
During this event, you'll learn about the academic and support services available at Tulane, get insider tips from current Tulane students, engage with faculty, and prepare for your advising and registration appointment. Students are required to attend CAST in order to register for fall classes.

The Freshman Leadership Program (FLP) is a prestigious program open to all first-year students. After an application and two interviews, 30 students will be selected into the cohort.

It's time to submit your photo and information for the 2020 Who's New at TU student book!
Who's New at TU is an 80-page book of photos and info about your classmates, along with useful info about Tulane and New Orleans. Please submit a photo and your info by JULY 27, 2020 at www.maincampuspublications.com/tulane.

Participate in one of the most popular Newcomb Institute traditions!
Hundreds of undergraduates choose to participate in this program every year. Bigs serve as a resource, a guide, and a friend as each first-year transitions to Tulane. Bigs are a helpful source of advice and insight throughout the semester, and there will be events for both Bigs and Littles to attend in order to get to know each other better.

#Wave Hello! to the Wave Leaders Cohort of NSO 2020
Every year, 100+ Wave Leaders support the orientation & transition of new students throughout New Student Orientation and Fall Welcome. Each Wave Leader works closely with a small group of first-year students to familiarize them with life at Tulane and offer guidance and support throughout their transition to college.
Beginning June 1st, you can learn more about them individually through our Instagram (@tulanenslp) by following the #WaveHello series before you get assigned to your Orientation Group!
Throughout orientation, these student leaders will be your first stop source of everything you need to know about Tulane - from how to get around campus to what do students do outside of class to how to get involved on campus doing something you love. As peer-mentors, they are also here to learn more about you and can provide a shoulder when you need support after a hard day.
