THE AUTUMNAL EQUINOX
The Autumnal Equinox always falls on the 22nd or 23rd of September in the Northern Hemisphere when the sun is exactly above the Equator… the North Pole tilts slightly and day and night are of equal length… almost. This moment marking the first day of Autumn, starts the pathway to the Winter Solstice on December 21st or 22nd… the longest night of the year.

Let’s enjoy Autumn’s glow that comes thru a filter of changing leaves, with the crispiest air, as we move forward to October's Harvest Moon next week.

CONISTON SUMMER MEMORIES

Hello. I wanted to give you an update on Coniston.

It was May 14th when I announced the cancellation of summer—it’s barely been four months. I remember using the phrase “we prioritized the health of our campers over the health of the organization itself.” But in the end, the community came together & prioritized Camp’s health. The support is remarkable.
Like all the professional sports team, local school athletes are carrying on and competing without fans & families cheering them on from the sidelines. SMHS is now live streaming some events for your enjoyment.

Thanks for following the Lakers!
LETS GET ARTSY...outdoors
Rainbow Mountain in the Peruvian Andes which sits 5,200 feat above sea level, was only revealed in recent years when the once constant snow cover melted. The rainbow-like appearance is created by the sediment of minerals throughout the area. Experienced hikers will see herds of Alpacas and Llamas as the climb upward. Learn more
Sculpture Gallery - Andres Institute of Art. Art in nature, a bit closer to home, can be found at the Andres Institute in Brookline NH. A great Autumn day trip where you'll discover a fascinating outdoor sculpture park created along the hiking trails on a former ski slope. Learn more

PLUTO VIDEO: Back to School and Velociraptors
UNTIL NEXT WEEK
We’re so grateful for the acknowledgment of community interest in Happenings, the readers who share this weekly message with friends, comment on postings & suggest items of interest to be shared, the photographers, artists & musicians who allow us to include their unique art. Sometimes "it takes a village” to raise awareness of what’s “happening”.
Plein air artist, Debbie Campbell is widely known and admired for her landscapes in and around Lake Sunapee. To the delight of visitors attending the annual Columbus Day "Fine Arts & Crafts Exhibit & Sale” (pre-pandemic)… Debbie always set up her easel just inside the big green doors of The Livery in Sunapee Harbor. Here’s hoping all your favorite artisans will be there to welcome you back in 2021!
Wednesday’s email “SUNAPEE HAPPENINGS
highlights a selection of events in our community each week.

For complete details on everything happening around the
Lake Sunapee area, check out the

You too, may submit all nonprofit and civic events
to that same calendar for posting.
