BOEC's Inspirations
The Official Newsletter of the BOEC
July 7, 2020
|
|
Dear Friend of BOEC,
It is finally starting to feel like summer up here in the mountains albeit still a very different one than we are used to!
After much cautious re-evaluation and preparation, we are now beginning to dip our toes carefully back into the water by offering
outdoor programs for local youth
through our partnership with
Building Hope Summit County
(see our story below). We are also planning to offer more short day programs for local agencies and for those individuals and groups who have come to rely on BOEC for access to outdoor adaptive adventure.
The new BOEC virtual program,
Recreating our Recreation
, has really taken off with long time clients including Children's Hospital Colorado and Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado tasking BOEC with the creation of virtual summer camps and other activities.
BOEC's Educational Shorts
presents 1 minute instructional videos on everything from why to drink water to going on a wildflower hike. These are sure to make you smile so be sure to check them out on
BOEC's YouTube channel
!
This month we wanted to share a story about a very inspirational organization, Angletech Cycles, who has partnered with the BOEC for over 20 years to help us build an adaptive cycling program and who are committed to making cycling accessible for all. Our own Kat Booth is featured this month in our series "It's the People Who Make BOEC So Special," and you will see why when you read her story. Be sure to check out Kat's talents in the BOEC Educational Shorts series as well. You will be left with a smile on your face the rest of the day.
We continue to be grateful for and inspired by our many donors and supporters who are helping us make it through this challenging time. Mario, and his son Emilio, are just one example of the amazing people we are touched by daily and who make what we do so very meaningful to all of us.
Thank you for your continued support of BOEC and we hope to see you soon.
Stay safe and healthy,

Humans Helping Humans, Angletech Cycles and it's Partnership with BOEC
|
|
When the BOEC created its Adaptive Cycling Program over 20 years ago, there was a very special partner that helped us get the program off the ground running. And they're still an instrumental part of the program today! Angletech Cycles in Colorado Springs is a one-of-a-kind recumbent and adaptive cycle shop with a very unique mission. Check out their story and the relationship formed with the BOEC.

It's the People Who Make BOEC So Special: Kat Booth, Intern Coordinator
|
|
BOEC's
Internship Program
is one of the most unique aspects of our 44-year-old nonprofit organization. So it would be only fitting that its leader, Kat Booth, is just as unique after rising through the ranks over the past five years to become the Intern Coordinator. This is her story.

BOEC YOUTH PROGRAMS
This summer the BOEC has joined forces with Building Hope Summit County's
The HYPE Program
to provide free activities and events for Summit youth ages 13-20 to combat the issue of social isolation during COVID-19. These events are free and fun, while providing connection and an opportunity to gain self-confidence and a stronger self of sense.
Check out images from completed activities and a preview of upcoming events by clicking below.

BOEC's 11th Annual Tee It Up Golf Scramble
|
|
Registration for the
11th Annual Tee It Up Golf Scramble
, benefiting BOEC, is now open! This year's event is slated for August 24th at the Keystone River Course and will feature some changes within guidelines surrounding COVID-19. We will be moving the typical shotgun start to tee times, every 8 minutes on holes #1 and #10, to minimize the size of group gatherings. Additionally, the 19th Hole After Party will not take place but a bigger and better silent auction will happen virtually, starting two weeks before the tournament. So grab three of your friends or family and register your foursome today! All proceeds benefit BOEC's adaptive outdoor programs for those with disabilities and special needs.

Catch up on previous shorts
here
and enjoy the latest video with our own Melissa Kuwahara, and her dog Yeti, who are going on a wildflower hike!
