Updated COVID-19 Recovery Resources
The City of Garland and other community partners are facilitating access to various recovery programs for residents who have been impacted by COVID-19.

Assistance is available for a variety of services, including financial assistance for housing, utilities, food and medical expenses, as well as workforce training and job placement services, and counseling and emergency shelter assistance.

Ballot Listing for May 1 Elections
The City of Garland will hold a General Election for two-year terms for Mayor and Districts 3, 6, 7, and 8 and a Special Election for the final year of an unfinished term in District 1 on May 1, 2021.

Garland eAssist is an easy way to submit service requests to Environmental Waste Services (EWS), access information and see other nearby requests in progress.

Using eAssist or calling 972-205-3500 is the best way to have your EWS issues addressed.

Once you enter a service request or report an issue, you can track the progress on an interactive map or choose to receive a notification.

eAssist is accessible from the City's website and from the eAssist Garland app available via iTunes and Google Play. Learn more.
Duck Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Earns Plant of the Year Award
For the second year in a row and the third time in four years, the Duck Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant will receive a “Plant of the Year” award from the Water Environment Association of Texas.

The award will be presented virtually on March 25 as part of the Texas Water 2021 conference.

The award is presented to a Texas municipal wastewater treatment plant that has consistently exhibited outstanding performance of daily activities beyond the normal call of duty.
Temporary Change in Disinfection for Drinking Water 
The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) will conduct its annual chlorine maintenance process on our water system March 1-29.
During this time, customers may notice a stronger taste or smell of chlorine. It is important to note that the quality of our drinking water remains safe for all uses, including drinking.

Register Now to Receive COVID-19 Vaccine
The Garland Health Department is registering individuals included in Phase 1A and Phase 1B for COVID-19 vaccinations as vaccine becomes available.

You must receive your second dose from the entity where you received your first dose. If you received your first dose from us, we will notify you about your second dose. The date listed on your card is the date you are eligible for your second dose, not necessarily the date you will receive it. We will schedule your appointment as doses become available.

Updates will be posted to GarlandTX.gov/COVIDVaccine and to the City’s Twitter and Facebook pages.

Please note that you only need to register once for our waitlist. You may register with multiple providers. If you receive the vaccine through a different entity, please email GPH@GarlandTX.gov so we may move someone else up on our waitlist.
COVID-19 Updates
The Garland Health Department has received reports of 656 active cases out of 26,310 confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Garland residents since the beginning of the pandemic, as well as 248 deaths. The City will update its posted case numbers each afternoon.

City Council Meetings
March 1 and 2
The Garland City Council Work Session will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, March 1. Regular Meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 2.

All upcoming Boards & Commissions meetings can be found on the Public Meetings calendar at GarlandTX.gov.

Due to COVID-19 public gathering restrictions, the meetings will be virtual. You can watch the meetings online. The virtual meeting link will be included in the individual meeting agenda. You may participate by telephone. Dial-in numbers will be posted with the virtual meeting information.

SKYWARN Storm Spotter Virtual Training: Tuesday, March 2
The 2021 severe weather season is around the corner. Are you prepared to recognize clues that suggest large hail, flash flooding or a possible tornado? The National Weather Service will host its free SKYWARN Storm Spotter Training at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, in virtual format. This training is free but you must register in advance.
Made Fresh and Local Concert This Thursday, March 4
Grab some popcorn, drinks and your best friends to get a front-row seat to our Made Fresh & Local virtual concert series. Performances featuring some of the area’s best musicians and artists occur at 7 p.m. every other Thursday night.
