Update On Return To Play and Team Formation

In case you missed it, MIFC issued an email update on its current plans for return to play, after consulting with local government and soccer association guidance, adjusting for particular conditions on our Island. See the entire message here.

Registration for all of our programs has opened -- here. In order to plan our team and coaching rosters, it is important for you to register your intent now to make the transition back to play as seamless as possible. If seasons are cancelled or cut short, we will refund your payments accordingly.

With respect to Select team formation we have adjusted our policies around the complications the pandemic restrictions have presented to us. See those policies here. Also note that Select players may reserve their spot with a $500 deposit, with the balance due at a later date.

New Coach Spotlight: Meet Annancy Dyer

Annacy was born and raised in the Bay Area in California. She played competitively through high school and continued to play at UC Davis while earning a Bachelors degree in Human Development. Annacy spent seven years teaching at the high school level and coaching the girls soccer team. She moved to Washington in 2019 with her husband and daughter and joined MIFC's Select coaching staff in 2020. She will be coaching the G06 and G09 Select teams

Annancy's Coaching Philosophy: Coach the whole player--from being challenged mentally on tactical awareness to being pushed physically before reaching that next level. Annacy believes in developing the emotional/mental aspect of a player's game by helping them learn how to be a teammate and support a group with a common goal.

Coach Happy Hours

Aaron Byers is engaging our paid coaching staff by hosting weekly virtual Happy Hours to discuss all things soccer. Aaron invites top coaches/players to provide professional development, sharing the latest and greatest methods for developing player skills, soccer IQ and fitness consistent with injury prevention and retention of interest in the game. The group gatherings allow our Select coaches to maintain a consistent training program as our players graduate to new coaches and teams.

MIFC Coloring Contest

Aaron Byers is keeping our MIFC players busy with soccer activities while they stay at home. In addition to the Player-Parent skills contest, he encouraged our players to stretch their artistic wings, providing an opportunity to submit artwork of their favorite soccer players. The submissions run the gamut from top Women's US players - like Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan and Hope Solo, international stars Lionel Messi and Ronaldo, and hometown hero Jordan Morris (or - as Balthasar Wyss calls him -- Jordan Hulk)

For next level effort, G09 Kaia Lee submitted a colored animation simulating a men v women game. Looks like the women are winning!

Parent Player Skills Contest - The Winner is . . .

After receiving many creative and entertaining entries for Aaron Byers' Player-Parent Skills Contest, Aaron anointed the Shelton family - Ashton (G11) Andrew (B10), Tyler (B07), Dad Ryan and Dog Kapua - as grand prize winners of the X-Box. Check out their winning moves on (and off) the trampoline here .
