Dear partner,
Rosie's owner was a disabled veteran who struggled to care for his dog. He wanted a better life for her.
My biggest fear as a humane officer is finding an animal I can't help. I didn't know what I could do for this terrified beautiful auburn retriever mix, so I sent out an appeal. Click here to see her video.
Kathleen Beaver, President & CEO for partner rescue Animal Friends, was moved by Rosie's story and quickly pulled together her best team to prepare the dog for a better life. Rosie spent time in an office at the shelter, then in a caring foster home where she loved playing with the other dogs.
Everyone was thrilled when Rosie went to a wonderful home (with a good friend of mine).
But then, her fairy-tale story turned into a nightmare.
Rosie won the hearts and inspired all she met with her kind and special spirit, her humor and sense of play, and her courage as she faced many new challenges.
Rosie's Rule is a new program, perhaps the first of its kind, to memorialize this special girl and somehow make good come out of tragedy.
I hope you will read about Rosie and support her program to help many other dogs enjoy full lives of "happily ever afters."
Thank you.
