With  Winter Welcome  starting next week, our student ambassadors known as Orientation Leaders are getting ready for your arrival on campus. Throughout the weekend, you will see them all around campus (you can't miss them) greeting you as you arrive on campus, participating in Winter Welcome events, and answering all the questions that you may have.  Click here  to learn more about the Orientation Leaders! Arriving on campus
 What to do when you get to campus

If you live on campus (Domestic Students):
  1. Domestic students should report directly to their residence hall on Friday, Jan.10 (if you are living on South Campus, report to 210 Goldstein Student Center on South Campus). You will be able to pick up your key, student ID *(if your picture was sent to Housing prior to your arrival) and receive other important information. 
  2. Get settled in your residence hall, unpack etc.
  3. Go to Bird Library 114 on Friday, Jan. 10, 2020. between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to check-in for Winter Welcome, pick up your copy of the Syracuse Winter Welcome schedule and other important information, and visit the Campus Resource Fair.
  4. Attend Syracuse Winter Welcome events!
*If you did not email your picture by the deadline, you can get your student ID at the Housing, Meal Plan and ID Card Services Office in 206 Steele Hall.


If you live on campus (International Students)
  1. International Students may check-in at the Center for International Services and begins at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9. You will be able to pick up your key, student ID *(if your picture was sent to Housing prior to your arrival) and receive other important information.
  2. Get settled in your residence hall, unpack etc.
  3. You will attend sessions on January 10 specifically for International students. Afterward, go to Bird Library 114 on Friday, Jan. 10, 2020. between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to check-in for Winter Welcome, pick up your copy of the Syracuse Winter Welcome schedule and other important information, and visit the Campus Resource Fair.
  4. Attend Syracuse Winter Welcome events!

If you live off campus:

Winter Welcome Guide

When you arrive to campus and check in at Bird Library 114 between 3-5pm for Winter Welcome, you will receive a physical copy of the Winter Welcome Guide. This provides the complete schedule for the weekend. It also provides helpful information regarding campus resources, office locations, campus map, and more! It is recommended to become familiar with the Welcome Guide ahead of time. Click below for access to an accessible web version and printable version of the Welcome Guide. 


You may also download the SU Guides app which gives you access to our Guidebook for the weekend. You may download this on your App Store/Google Play store and it is free.

Parking during  Winter Welcome

Parking in most Syracuse University lots will be available during Syracuse Welcome. During New Student Move-in, please follow parking staff directions on where to park. Parking lots will be available to families until the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 11.
 
Please display your Syracuse Welcome parking pass on the dashboard of your car. You will receive this when you check-in for Winter Welcome between 3-5pm on January 10, 2020.

Syracuse University First-Year Experience

As a new student, you will participate in community wellness activities that build connection, promote community well-being and help you learn more about health and wellness resources and programs. Some activities begin before you arrive, while others take place a few weeks into the semester. Failure to complete these requirements will result in a Conduct Hold, hindering class registration in addition to participation in Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, Athletics, studying abroad and more. 
Below are the activities in which you will be required to participate. (Please note, the "Be Well SU: Staying Healthy at SU" presentation replaces the Be Well Expo for students enrolling into the spring semester.)
  • Due Jan. 11 or Jan. 22: "Staying Healthy at SU" presentation
     
    Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, 3 p.m., Stolkin Auditorium
    Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020, 7 p.m., Shemin Auditorium
    As a friendly reminder, students are required to bring their SU I.D. to swipe into the event.
     
  • Due Jan. 14: "Speak About It" presentation
    Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020, 8 p.m. 
    Falk College, Grant Auditorium
    As a friendly reminder, students are required to bring their SU I.D. to swipe into the event.
     
  • Due Feb. 3: Online EVERFI Training Modules
    Three online EVERFI training modules, centered on sexual and relationship violence prevention, alcohol and other drugs, and diversity, equity and inclusion. For additional instructions on accessing EVERFI and navigating modules visit the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) webpage.

Alma Mater

The  Syracuse University Alma Mater , under the title Song of Syracuse, was written by Junius W. Stevens, Class of 1895. It was first sung in public on March 15, 1893, by the University Glee and Banjo Club as the last number in a concert at the Wieting Opera House.
