What is Fair Tax in IL?
   July 14, 2020 @ 7 pm    via ZOOM

Presentation on IL Fair Tax referendum with
Ralph Martire; Executive Director of the
Center for Tax and Budget Accountability ("CTBA")
A bipartisan 501(c)(3) think tank. Bring your hard questions!
Co-Sponsored: UUANI & LaGrange Area League of Women Voters

This short video shows how the Fair Tax amendment will fix Illinois’ broken tax system, ensuring that 97% of Illinoisans—those who make $250,000 a year or less—get a tax cut or pay no more than they do now. Working people need relief now more than ever, and that’s exactly what Fair Tax reform will provide.

The Racial Equity Team is not meeting in July. Instead, all are invited to learn about the equity issues underlying the Illinois tax referendum on the November ballot by attending our Fair Tax Info Session on Tuesday, July 14 at 7:00 pm. This virtual event is open to the public. Please share and bring a friend. More info and registration here:  https://tinyurl.com/ycv9szp5

An e-course offered by the American Friends Service Committee
Engage in deep, embodied learning and practice with other white people of faith working to end white supremacy. We will build the skills to show up fully, follow the leadership of people of color, learn to speak effectively, and engage in direct action. This four part e-course invites participants to work between sessions in small group gatherings, and to commit to action that results in tangible, positive outcomes for people of color in our communities, leading to systemic change.
Join leaders of the American Friends Service Committee to prepare for the riskier work ahead as we struggle for racial justice.
Thursdays, 7-8:30pm (CT)
July 9, July 23, August 13, August 27 with optional small group work on alternating Thursdays by ZOOM
