APC International Excitedly Welcomes Newest Team Member, Brian M. Park

APC excitedly welcomes the newest member to the APC Team, Brian M. Park.  Brian is no stranger to Central Pennsylvania or to piezo devices and manufacturing.

Brian has lived in the central PA region for about 15 years.  He moved to Central PA from the Pittsburgh, PA area to complete his Mechanical Engineering degree at Penn State University.  Enjoying the small town feel of the State College, he decided to stay and start his career in Happy Valley.  Shortly before graduating, he had learned of the area's other pseudonym... "Piezo Valley".  Participating in internship programs designing piezo actuators and motors sparked his interest in working with piezoelectric materials and devices.   Brian then spent 7 years developing various medical devices at Actuated Medical, Inc., all of which utilized smart motion technology, the majority of them using piezoelectric technology.  Additionally, Brian set up and managed a small CNC machine shop at Actuated Medical to increase prototyping capabilities and reduce lead times for clinical studies and pilot production.

Brian has spent the most recent 4 years with API Technologies Corp. as a mechanical product design engineer in the Power Solutions group.  He was responsible for sheet metal/machined enclosure design and thermal analysis of their products.  Brian also led the development of new rugged power supplies for several military applications.  He was promoted to manage the Power Solutions engineering department, and while serving in that role, Brian made changes to project management approaches, increasing visibility and on-time completion of engineering tasks.  Additionally, he intensified the qualification testing that accompanies product development to reduce the occurrence of design issues and increase customer satisfaction.

After gaining valuable manufacturing and management experience at API, the opportunity to return to his passion, piezoelectric materials and devices at APC International was extended to him.  Excited to rejoin the industry, Brian started with APC International January 3, 2018.  He will be filling the critical role of Plant Manager of the Heckman Gap manufacturing center, and importantly he will also be working closely with Jeff Zahnd, (V.P. Engineering) and the APC Products team in device design and analysis, putting to use some his favorite professional skills - drafting, mechanical design, and piezo modeling.

Outside of the office Brian enjoys spending time with his wife, Jennifer and his two sons, Sheldon and Sawyer, in his spare time he focuses on his hobbies - carpentry, mountain biking, fishing, home improvement projects, and working outdoors.

We welcome you to visit APC, to get to know Brian, and to discuss your future and/or ongoing projects and piezo needs!
