What you can do about the big payment cut threatening physicians!
Organized medicine is continuing its advocacy to prevent a 9.75% Medicare physician payment cut from taking effect on Jan. 1, 2022. Physician organizations nationwide have joined in supporting a bipartisan effort spearheaded by U.S. Reps. Ami Bera, MD (D-CA) and Larry Bucshon, MD (R-IN). With time quickly running out, we are asking all FMA members to use this link and send an editable form letter urging your congressional representatives to sign on as additional co-sponsors. Several members of Florida's congressional delegation have signed onto the letter; however, reminding them of the urgency of this issue will help us in the short time we have left to prevent these egregious cuts. Every additional constituent e-mail improves our chances of winning this important battle. SEND YOUR LETTER NOW
Florida Parents’ Bill of Rights Impact on Healthcare Providers
It is well settled law that a minor cannot consent to health care services and treatment unless an exception applies. So what is the impact of the latest legislative changes in the form of the “Parents’ Bill of Rights”? This new law, Florida Statutes Chapter 1014, should not substantially change the way health care providers interact with minors. It may however provide a more unified approach to parents’ rights to both making health care decisions and obtain access to the medical records of their minor children. Click the link for a summary of the new Parents’ Bill of Rights law and the potential considerations and challenges for health care providers. Read the article.

Important Federal Updates Regarding Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccination
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Pfizer have released new resources to assist with planning for a pediatric COVID-19 vaccine.

  • The Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccination Operational Planning Guide outlines key aspects of a COVID-19 vaccination program for children younger than 12 years old. This was designed to inform jurisdictional planning under the assumption of authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and CDC recommendations of at least one COVID-19 vaccine product for children of this age.
  • Pfizer has also created a one-page guide, noting the difference between the current adult/adolescent formulation and the future pediatric formulation.
  • Additional guidance regarding COVID-19 vaccination for children 5-11 years old can be found on the CDC’s website.
Renewal time will be here before you know it...
Don't get caught at the last minute trying to determine what needs to be done to renew.
