AVC Distinguished Alumni Award
Each year, the Antelope Valley College Alumni and Friends committee accepts nominations to award an AVC alumnus for their service, excellence, accomplishments, and impact on the community. Once the committee completes their review of applications, with approval from the AVC Foundation Board of Directors, the recipient(s) will be honored at the upcoming Commencement ceremony.

The deadline to submit a nomination is Mar. 29.

AVC AFAB Program Recognized at a National Level
Each year, the National Council for Continuing Education and Training (NCCET) identifies outstanding programs from across the country that are directly aligned with the three-tiered mission of the NCCET organization. The program must either provide new and innovative staff development, introduce new curriculum for an evolving workforce, or provide a new source of revenue for the school.

Antelope Valley College was recognized as a recipient of the 2019 Exemplary Program Award for the Aircraft Fabrication and Assembly Technician Program for outstanding results and contributions in the areas of workforce development and continuing education.

Retired AVC Faculty Honored with Memorial Bench on Campus
Earlier this month, Charles C. Ferrari, retired AVC faculty, was honored with a memorial bench on campus. The bench is located in from of Uhazy Hall and reads, “Charles C. Ferrari. A Great Teacher and a Great Man. He Cared.” In August 2019, Charles passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Charles is survived by his wife of 46 years, six children, 18 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Charles taught part-time and full time for Antelope Valley College for over 50 years and retired in May of 2014 at the age of 88.

Thanks to all of the many family members, friends, and AVC faculty and staff who contributed to the purchase of his bench. His dedication to our students will forever be part of our campus.
Retired AVC Faculty Honored with Memorial Bench on Campus
As part of a campaign to highlight local job and training opportunities, the City of Lancaster is highlighting the Antelope Valley College AFAB program. AFAB faculty member Jack Halliday, Jr. discussed what motivates students to complete the program, what they will learn, and how they can use the skills in the local workforce. A former student, Wendy Lopez, also discussed how the program provided her direction, why she chose AVC, and her educational experience.
