From the Landscape Garden Team:
Is that Kale growing in First Unitarian front courtyard planters? Yes it is! In addition to kale you will find collards and bush zucchini among the flowers. The church’s front planters are growing vegetables for
House of Mercy
in the city of Rochester. Dave DiNapoli, the House of Mercy’s food manager, has informed us that they feed 300 people a day at their homeless shelter. The front planters and The UU Dig community garden will be supplying House of Mercy with fresh vegetables each week.
If you are growing a vegetable garden this season and have extra bounty to share, the Landscape Team would be happy to deliver it to the House of Mercy on Saturday mornings.
Contact Megan Meyer (
585-734-5082
) a day or so in advance and drop off your veggies from 9:00-10:00am in the cooler at the community garden located on Nunda Blvd. One of the volunteers will drive it down to House of Mercy along with the produce harvested here at church.
