Utah Business Funding & Resources Overview
Today the Utah Office of Tourism hosted a webinar to cover the grant programs the Governor's Office of Economic Development will be or has rolled out to assist businesses during COVID-19. These programs are available for ALL eligible businesses (not restricted to the tourism/hospitality industry).

Here is a high level outline of the programs outlined. We are working to organize a regional webinar to provide businesses another opportunity to ask more in-depth questions.
SAFE IN UTAH
  • Application Opens: OPEN, first come, first served

  • Description of grant: This grant is intended to help businesses with the purchase of PPE.
SHOP IN UTAH
  • Application Opens: July 27th, 9 AM - first come, first served
  • Questions: email shopinutah@utah.gov
  • Please note that this email may not be completely responsive until the program open July 20th.
  • Description of grant:
  • 50% of the the received grant must by used to offer a discount or other offer with an estimated value to consumers.
  • 50% of the received grant can go to ANY operational costs lost due to COVID-19
  • This grant is intended to help small businesses. Per state statute 75% of awards MUST go to businesses with less than 250 full-time equivalent employees (40+ hours) for applications received BEFORE August 31st.
  • Application cap is $50,000 per eligible applicant
  • This may not exceed the amount of the business entity's revenue decline. Revenue decline will be calculated:
  • For a business entity that began operating before July 1, 2019, the sum of revenue for March through June 2019 compared to the sum of revenue for March through June 2020; or
  • For a business entity that began operating on or after July 1, 2019, the business entity's revenue for February 2020 multiplied by four compared to the sum of revenue from March through June 2020
Supporting Utah Office of Tourism Marketing for Shop In Utah Deals
In an effort to support deals that local businesses are offering the Utah Office of Tourism (UOT) is partnering with TravelZoo. The UOT will be backing these efforts with a $200K marketing campaign driving traffic to this deal page via banner ads, digital efforts, geotargeting, VisitUtah.com landing page re-direct, featured articles, and more.

What you will need/need to know:
  • Compelling offer
  • Link to website
  • No cost to partners
  • TravelZoo will take no commission on offers
  • If you need creative ideas -- TravelZoo is willing to share best practices
  • You will be able to control the deal's start date, turn off the deal when you’ve met your requirements/desirable outcomes, black out dates, etc
  • You can still participate even if you don't receive any Shop In Utah grant money

COMMERCIAL RENTAL ASSISTANCE
Applications are currently OPEN

Grant rental relief assistance to businesses who have lost revenue as a result of COVID-19.

An applicant who meets eligibility requirements will receive between 50% and 100% of up to two months of its business lease amount, not to exceed $15,000 for a single location. A business with more than one location may receive up to $30,000, with no more than $5,000 per month for anyone location. The percentage will be based on a formula that takes into account the company’s loss of gross revenue.

Grant amounts will be 1) 100% of monthly rent with a monthly gross revenue loss of 45% or more, or 2) 50% of monthly rent with a monthly gross revenue loss between 30% and 44%.
