Stress impacts us in many ways:
Emotionally - Anger, impatience, short-tempered, anxiety, worry, confusion, sadness
Physically - Headache, tense muscles, racing heartbeat, upset stomach, irritable bowel, fatigue, depression
May lead to unhealthy choices - Reliance on substances, overeating/not eating, relying on sleeping aids, self neglect
Unhealthy choices, in turn, may result in Type II diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, substance use disorder
What are some ways to reduce stress?
● Ask for help - swap babysitting/chores with a friend
● Stay organized - helps reduce feelings of chaos
● Aim for 7-8 hours of (quality) sleep per night
● Study Tai Chi, meditation, imagery, deep-breathing, practice gratitude
● Exercise and have FUN!
