Slide into Second... Semester: Tuesday 1/7 at 5:30 p.m.
Mark your calendars and plan to be at The Summit on Tuesday, January 7th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. (Note: This is the night before our Wednesday late start day.) Hot dogs, hot chocolate, and drinks provided courtesy of SPO.
Join us for this fun, social event! This is a great event for families and children (Early Learners through Upper School) too!

Summit Alumni are Back on Campus Friday 1/10
We are excited to celebrate our Summit Alumni on Friday, January 10th. Summit High School Graduates will be on campus to tour the new building and answer questions from current students on Friday afternoon. All Summit Alumni will then gather and mingle at Springfield Brewing Company on Friday night.
Be sure to check Summit's social media on Friday to follow along with our Alumni as they return to The Summit.
If you know a Summit alumnus, be sure to tell them about this event or have them contact the office for more information.

After School Enrichment Clubs, Session #3
Enrichment clubs begin the week of January 6th and we will return to a SIX week session. Clubs meet once a week, from 3:30-4:30 p.m., on the days listed below. Feel free to invite your non-Summit friends to join as well!
Clubs are:
- Mondays: Art Club with Mrs. Murphy
- Tuesdays: Ninja Warriors with Mrs. Walker
- Wednesdays: Acting Club with Mrs. Murphy
- Thursdays: Ping-Pong Club with Ms. Amy

**Note: There is no school on Friday 2/14.
NEW this year, ALL lower school students (Beginners through 5th grade) are invited to attend The Summit's Lower School Dance! Each student (boys and girls) is invited to attend with an adult (ie: father/daughter(s), mother/son(s), etc). This is a "formal" occasion, and attendees are encouraged to "dress up" for the dance (whether in their Sunday best or a fun party outfit). A DJ, photo booth, light snacks, and party favors provided.

Winter Break STEM Enrichment was a blast at The Summit!
Kindergarten through 3rd Grade students engaged in two days of fun and exciting STEM Play, led by Mrs. Vrinda Nandan, including computational thinking and coding.
4th - 6th graders explored the wonders of Virtual Reality with Mr. Kyle Loudis. Summit 6th grader Emily Chindlund said, "The best part of VR camp was being able to experience all the different games that are available. My favorite was Beat Saber!"

High School Informational Meeting for Parents
On Thursday, January 16th The Summit will be hosting an informational meeting for parents of prospective high school students. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and will cover current course offerings, high school expectations, college prep, and more.

Children's Education Alliance of Missouri Training for Parents
The
Children's Education Alliance of Missouri (CEAM) is parent advocacy non-profit that works on K-12 education legislation. The MORE (MO Reimagining Education) network is a group of non-profits, schools, and individual advocates specifically working on tax-credit scholarships for parents to be able to send their children to private schools or even home school or meet any other educational needs.
The groups are expanding their network and training advocates to be engaged in the movement. CEAM is hosting their advocacy training at The Summit Prep this year.
There are two sessions for this training: Monday 1/13 and Monday 1/20, each from 6-8 p.m. The first training will cover how to tell your story, 30-second elevator pitches and general public speaking tips. The second training is all about how to prepare for, and what to expect when going to the state capitol. CEAM will provide dinner.

Seeking SPO Assistant Treasurer
Looking for a way to get involved with the Summit Parent Organization? SPO is currently seeking an individual interested in serving as the Assistant Treasurer for the second half of this school year. This would serve as a training period before then moving into the Vice President of Finance position for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years.

Needed: Microwaves for Classroom Use
We are in need of at least three new or in-good-condition microwaves for classroom/lunch use. If you have a spare you'd like to donate to The Summit, or know someone else who might, please contact Mr. Mike for more information. |

Needed: Recyclables for Kindergarten Project
Summit Kindergarteners are in need of your CLEAN recyclables for a class project in January. If you have access to any of the following, please save and bring into the Kindergarten classroom between now and the first week back to school in January. Any unused materials will be recycled.
Requested Materials
- Pasteboard boxes (think: cereal boxes, butter boxes, cracker boxes, etc)
- Milk/juice cartons (no plastic, please)
- Small/medium cardboard boxes
- Shoeboxes
- Paper towel and toilet paper tubes
- Other small/medium interestingly shaped containers (think: oatmeal, Pringles, Toblerone bar, etc)
- Plastic lids
- Skewer sticks
- Popsicle sticks
