November 2021 (No. 111)
Welcome to our newsletter. Once a month we will update you with news about David Matero Architecture and our community. We welcome your comments, questions and feedback.
Georgetown Cape
We took advantage of some nice autumn weather to take photos of the Georgetown Cape. Landscaping has not had time to fill in yet, but the architecture has been completed. The client was very happy with their low energy bills last year, and many months had no cost because of the solar panels. Construction by Chartier Building & Remodeling.
Impossible Dreams
There are only two opportunities, this Friday and Saturday, to see "Impossible Dreams, a Musical Revue." The Chocolate Church Arts Center and Studio Theatre of Bath are co-producing this show that features beloved songs from your favorite musical productions. Showtunes from Wicked, Les Miz, Camelot, Fiddler on the Roof and more will be performed by talented singers and actors from past CCAC and STB productions under the music direction of Courtney Babbidge. November 5th & 6th, 7;30, at the Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath. Tickets area available here.
On the Drawing Board
We have had some great design meetings with our new clients reviewing concept designs of their new, energy efficient home in Falmouth. The design echoes their desire for a contemporary home that provides a quiet and zen facade facing the main road and a much more glass-faced and open facade towards their eastern water views.
Views from the job site
Framing is underway at Headline, including the steel moment frame (yes inside the insulated envelope). The one car garage was constructed first so there was some storage on site. Construction by Thorner Building Corp.
Maine Branch
The contractor is calling the Maine Branch a jewel box because of the many details that make this cottage special. It's also only 700 sf so its a challenge to build without working on top of each other. The stair detail is especially fantastic, as the nosing aligns with the wood accent wall, and also includes hidden LED lighting. Construction by Chartier Building & Remodeling.
Centre Street Arts Gallery
The Centre Street Arts Gallery holiday exhibit opened Sunday, October 24, with new work and over 100 paintings by all member artists. One of the new works is by artist Livy Glaubitz, an acrylic painting called “Marsh at Roger’s Neck.” Livy loves to be paint outside much of the year, and finds inspiration in the Midcoast Maine environment. More of her work can be found at 11 Centre Street in Bath.
