Weekly Wellness Tips

Hello friends! The month of February is quickly coming to an end, but that certainly does not mean any of us are less focused on our career wellbeing. For most of us, we attend University so that we can earn a degree that will help us get a job in our chosen career field. But just like everything else in life, having a balanced set of skills in addition to our degree can help us to find our dream job.

In life, we tend to have a certain set of skills that we are naturally good at performing, and some that we need to work a bit harder at mastering. That’s OK! And, either your chosen career path is in line with your natural skills or it is not. That’s why it is important to learn what skills are needed to succeed in your career path and why it is equally important to review your current set of skills. Self reflection can be difficult, but when we take some time to be honest with ourselves and make a list of things that we need to work on, we can then dedicate our time and energy to improving those skills. Actually, that is a highly sought after skill in and of itself. So, one of the things that we can all work on together this semester is learn how to practice self reflection, and to be honest but kind to ourselves.

Remember, it is OK to not be great at everything - that is normal. Learning how to identify areas of improvement and taking the steps to make those improvements is a wellness skill that will strengthen our career wellness throughout our entire professional life.
